Casting Glove

Bad Paper

First Post
DMG2 has a rather broken little toy called a Casting Glove that's like a Storing Glove only it lets the wearer use a magic item stored within. So Thog the barbarian can use that handy scroll of Wish he found...

Am I wrong about this? Does anyone else think this is nuts?

Can you post the full text of the Casting Glove? I would think that the normal restrictions to a scroll would still apply, but I don't own the DMG2. I would also be interested in knowing what the cost was.

Nope.

The item allows retrieving and using a magic without generating an AoO. It does not allow using a magic item stored without going through the normal restrictions on use.

In the example given Thog the barbarian would need to do a UMD check in order to use that scroll of wish.

Doesn't work the way you think it does. It's not that bad. Relevant quote from the item's text:

"The effect that distinguishes a casting glove from a glove of storing is the former's ability to channel the magic of certain items without retrieving them. Once per round, the wearer of a casting glove can call upon one effect of a stored potion, rod, wand, scroll, or staff as if he were holding the item in his hand."

So if you couldn't use the item normally, such as Thog the barbarian and his Wish scroll, you're no better off for using the glove. All it really does is free up a hand.
