captivating song question

Spectrum Rider

First Post
If a character fails his saving thorw against a harpy's captivating song, does the effect only continue as long as the harpy keeps singing? If, after captivation, the harpy (or target) is enveloped in a silence spell, or the harpy dies, or stops singing for any reaon, what is the result?

Thanks,

The effect lasts for as long as the harpy sings. As soon as she stops singing, you're free. As soon as she dies, she stops singing.

Silence can be tricky: she's still singing, but you don't hear it. But since the bard's countersong will work, I'd say that silence foils the song ability. Other choices are protection from Evil (or Chaos), magic Circle against Evil (or Chaos), and Mind Blank.
