I always seem to get lost in Lollypop Woods. I find the setting a little dark for an adventure though.

I've always wondered what would happen if Candyland were a roleplaying game. It's got a setting, locations, villains and treasures, and it's a railroad. Seems like a perfect fit.

Back when my son was young we got the Candyland game and I wrote up notes for an adventure based on the disappearance of King Candy and attempts by his brother the Lord Liquorice Pomfey to usurp the throne (he had already taken the Sourheart Gem from the shattered crown which was causing the the land to sour). Princess Frostine summons the PCs to the Peppermint Grove and gives them the task of recovering the peices of the shattered crown and restoring balance to the Kingdom, the adventure visits all the locations of the game - Never got to play it though, I should dig that out.

That said I have used Frostine as an Ice Scorceress and Gloopy (a sentient bog ooze), fairy Lolly, Plumpa Trolls and Gingerbread people in other scenarios

I have played in a Candyland inspired game. A college classmate of mine has what could be described as a brilliantly demented imagination. He ran a couple of summer D&D campaigns in his version of Candyland where the Candyman was the BBEG. The summer I played, our characters had been transported to that alternate reality and were trying to free his nemesis, the wizard Caramba, from imprisonment with the help of a local paladin we recruited - Percival Heathbar. Heathbar wore armor made of fruit leather with gum drop studs. And his "battleaxe" was a big Lifesaver lollipop.

It was a truly deranged campaign that was also strongly influenced by the Yellow Submarine movie and, perhaps surprisingly, neither drugs nor mental illness. Bob was was weirdly creative but a pretty healthy guy. He is now, in fact, a mental health therapist with over 20 years of experience.

My kids would love that! You should definitely dig it out and give it a run and see how it goes and let us know,!
