D&D 5E Can you concentrate on a spell while resting?

The word concentrate would seem to be contrary to the notion that one could do it while resting. But rules wise, I've not seen anything that prevents it. And RAI, it's not clear concentration takes any real effort--you can do it for 24 hours with no chance of failure unless you get hurt etc. This gets important mainly for short rests and long duration spells. Am I missing a clear rule here? If not, what do people think?

It seems there are several spells which can summon something for up to one hour. I would imagine using one of them to guard or watch over your party while you take a short rest would be acceptable.

But what concentration spells last longer than up to an hour anyway?

In addition to Hex, Sorcerors can Extend Spell.

…really, the kinds of questions made of this game…so disingenuous…revolting...

Calling a game "disingenuous" and "revolting" is not only kind of bizarrely hyperbolic, it's Edition War bait. It's completely possible to criticize the idea of concentration lasting during a rest without descending into naked insults and using language often used to describe war crimes to describe a game mechanic in a game about pretending to be a magical elf. I suggest that if you want to participate in the thread, you spend the effort to come up with a way to do that.
