Can you cast spells if swallowed whole?

Can you cast spells if you're swallowed whole? I don't see why you couldn't, but it dosen't list any DC's either. You take crushing damage, so it must be fairly strenuous. Is the DC equal to the amount of damage you took last round as if it were Melfs Acid Arrows? Or is each round of damage seperate and not continuous?

Thanks.

Yes, you would just need to make a concentration check. Continuous damage (as from being crushed or from melf's acid arrows) would force a concentration check based on the last damage you took.

If there was no damage, I would still require a concentration check, DC 15 + spell level, as indicated on page 151-152 of the PHB. The DM may also rule that spells with somatic components can't be cast at all (as if grappled).

Whether or not you're swallowed or just bitten is a grapple check, but I don't know if you're considered grappled or not when swallowed or if it just uses the grapple mechanics.

And no Verbal components as well.

I mean, how is he going to speak in a 'firm voice'?

Are you mocking or shouldn't they get verbal either?

I just want to know if they're considered grappled or considered to be taking continuous damage or if they're just casting under strenuous conditions.

What is he swallowed by? Are you swallowed by a creature who is bearly two size catagories bigger then you and you are stuffed in his stomach? Or are we talking about Pinochio being swallowed by Moby Dick?

Personal, I'd have the concentration check and make it with additional panalties if it has S and V compnents.
