Hi all, I have a 3.5 Paladin/Kensai (soon to be Paladin/Kensai/Anointed Knight) who, for obvious reasons, really doesn't want to lose his ancestral relic/signature weapon falchion. Two enchantments seem particularly useful for this purpose, the Called and Returning properties. I know the Called property is only applicable to armor and shields, and Returning really only works on thrown weapons. I'm also aware the MIC has a Crystal of Return, the lesser and greater versions of which allow you to call your weapon from up to 30 ft. away. However, it's pretty useless if someone removes the crystal, holds the weapon, or takes it more than 30 feet away from me.
Given the ancestral relic feat will eventually allow me to imbue the weapon with the power equivalent of a 380,000 gp item, I am wondering if I could get away with adding something like Called or a non-throwing Returning property to the blade as an relic-level abiltiy? What would you guys rule on something like this? I'm looking for some good rationalization to convince my DM with.
Thanks in advance,
Vor
