(BOVD) Death Rock

What if the possesser of the artifact known as the "Death Rock" has only undead as friends? Would the rock simply fade away immediately? Or would one of the undead friends be changed into a zombie?

I've already asked about this on the WotC boards and received no response. I'm hoping for more here.

I would assume the latter. Even if your friend is a vampire, they might as well be dead to you when they are slain and turned into a mindless zombie.
