Boots of Striding and Springing: Whats the rules on it?

They double your speed up to 50. Any speed more than 50 is supernatural and is not doubled. They also give you a +10 circumstance bonus to Jump checks and your height does not limit the distance.

So if you move 60' does that mean that BoSS increase your movement to 110'?

I believe the ruling is 100'. It doesn't add 50', it doubles 50'.

If your base move is (somehow) a Supernatural 120', the Boots do nothing, because double 50' is less than what you already move...

Monk is how it usually comes up with PCs.

But I doubt that a Light Warhorse has supernatural powers. I would have no qualms in letting Horseshoes of Speed double its movement rate.

It doubles your movement. Period.

This stuff about not doubling movement over 50 (supernatural movement) is just stuff that's been added after the fact.

I'm waiting to see if that's included in 3.5 or not.

so lets say I have a Ghale which has a base speed of 50. If I take a level of Barbarian, I get +10 to my movement, and it becomes 60. If I get boots of striding and springing, do I get 120 feet per round?

The monk class states its a supernatural ability after 9th level. No where in the Barbarian class is it illustrated. And I don't think any book covers a barbarian with a movement over 50.

Yes, I realize that the PHB doesn't have races with base movement past 30. But by some of these other books, we have many races that have speed above 30. So just asking for opinions really.

Actually, if you go to the FAQ portion of the WOTC site it covers this with regards to monks. It is on page 14 of the D&D FAQ sheet at the top of the second column.

Quote - "Note that the monk's fast movement ability becomes supernatural at 9th level. Once that occurs, the monk's fast movement no longer stacks with the boots of striding and springing . A 9th level human monk for example, has a movement speed of 60. If wearing boots of striding and springing , the monks speed is 100. (This is twice the 50 foot speed the monk would have at 8th level, which is the fastest nonsupernatural speed the monk can achieve).

Sorry, I hate to take the wind out of your sails here dude, but its covered "officially" in the FAQ on the WOTC site. Therefore your rather abrupt statement of - "It doubles your movement. Period is in a word....wrong period.

I believe a Barbarian's Fast Movement is [Ex], so as long as there's nothing supernatural about the Ghaele's speed, then 120' sounds right.
