Bludgeoning Arrows?

Ignoring game rules, they exists: quoting the easiest source I could find:

Wikipedia said:
Blunts are unsharpened arrowheads occasionally used for types of target shooting, for shooting at stumps or other targets of opportunity, or hunting small game when the goal is to stun the target without penetration. Blunts are commonly made of metal or hard rubber

But I don't know if there are rules for blunt arrows.

Blunt arrows definitely are in the Arms and Equipment Guide. They're also in a 3.5 source (AEG is 3.0), but the books have been coming out so fast I can't remember which one.

Different arrow types are contained in Races of the Wild (3.5) - pg 163+

blunt arrows are there as well as serpentstongue (forked head that does slashing and piercing damage).

Keep in mind that the blunt arrows from Races of the Wild deal nonlethal damage, however. They're meant for stunning game.

True, but then again so has every version of blunt arrows in D&D that I can remember. Including the Arms and Equipment guide one.

From 2nd ed to the present. I have never seen a type b arrow that wasn't deseigned for subdual (or non-lethal) damage in D&D so far. :)

Of course they exist.

Thanks a lot!
I will check on those books later.
So there goes my idea of bludgeoning arrows against skeleton-type undeads... Subdual doesn't work with them. At least there's a slashing version for zombie-types!

Hello everybody!

Quick question:
Bludgeoning arrows (or slashing for that matter)...
Do those things even exist??

Thanks a lot!

According to Dragon Magazine they do. Dragon had an article about arrows made specially for clerics [this was right near the end of 2nd Edition, as there was also a 3rd ed preview in that issue] that had mace heads on them. Essentially, they do a little less damage (d6 instead of d8) and updating them to 3.5 rules, I would also say they only do x2 critical.

As for slashing arrows, I don't know.
