There can only be one.

And, in case it matters to you, I think there's a distinction between your favorite superhero movie and the best superhero movie.

So, which is it? What's your nomination the single best superhero movie?

The contenders will battle it out in a poll, coming soon.

I was thinking about this the other day...

I really really love The Dark Knight (saw it recently) but is it better than all the others or is it my bias for darker heavier material? (Notable mention Logan)
I settled on its likely my bias.

As for what is the best throw up a poll :ROFLMAO:

For myself, I am torn between Into the Spider-Verse and The Dark Knight, both of which distill the essence of a franchise down to its core and do a great job of making it clear why these are two classic superheroes.

I think I'd probably give the edge to Spider-Verse because the ending of The Dark Knight feels like either Nolan is suddenly worried about setting up a sequel or a bunch of stuff got left on the cutting room floor.

In contrast, Miles Morales' film debut is pretty much perfect, start to finish.

If I am being as neutral as possible (which is hard considering all the super-hero feels I have inside) I think the best one might be Blade.

It at once captures the essence of the character, while also being extremely broadly accessible.

An honorable mention that will probably get a lot of pushback based on rigid definitions: Robocop.

1. The Incredibles - no other superhero film captures the essence of the Silver Age like this one does. Or the essence of a mid-life crisis.

2. The Dark Knight - Heath ledger's Joker is as iconic as character as film has produced, and the film offers a provoking meditation on our fascination with masked heroes.

3. Black Panther - superhero films seldom actually matter to the important conservations of their time. This one did, and Killmonger is the classic example of a villain who has the better argument, if not methods.

4. Spiderman 2 - There are a LOT of superhero coming of age stories, but for me this is the one that rings most true, with Tobey Maguire's conflicted hero perfectly balanced against Alfred Molina's hugely sympathetic Dr. Octopus.
