Best SF& Fantasy sellers of the year for Amazon

Well... I was surprised to see the D&D books in their best-selling SF & fantasy, but honestly am not surprised/have no interest in the novels listed there.

The editor's picks, on the other hand, look really good. Ilium was almost certainly the best novel I read this year. Patricia McKillip and Greg Keyes are both great authors, and I just read Barnes' Lion's Blood, the book that comes before Zulu Heart, and it too was very good. So I think the editor who picked those knows his or her stuff... and they're probably all worth getting!

I hate how well Crossroads of Twilight sold. It's just positive reinforcement for Jordan to write another book where absolutely nothing happens.

The Speed of Dark and Spin State from the editor pick list were totally off my radar screen... Anyone read these?

If you are interested in a similar high quality list watch www.sfsite.com as well towards the end of the year. They have a reader list, and editor list, and a fantasy only list. I usually get turned on to a few good books from here each year.

I really enjoyed Gibson's Pattern Recognition. I'll definitely have to look into that Dan Simmons book and the Gregory Keyes series.
