Best Dremel Tool

The weird thing is for miniature work you actually want a dremel with less torque. The high speed, high torque models are harder to control and will snap off any drill bit you might use.

I suggest going with one of the smaller battery tools. I use the Dremel 750-02 Minimite. It works well and I would buy it again for the same purpose.

Assuming you are going to do some pinning you will need to buy some drill bits. If you are going to do a lot of cutting - buy some extra cutting discs. The best prices and service I have found comes from Widget Supply.

If you have some particular application in mind I can be more specific.

There's a dremel tool on the husband's Christmas list and so I'm just trying to gather some information about it. :)
Excellent. Well, assuming his main application is minis, my advice is sound. If he wants a multi-purpose tool for sharpening mower blades, stripping, or other more arduous tasks you might want to jump up in power.

Sadly, I won three of the darn things for various applications...

ah... you could have just asked me....

But then I would have to come to a game for that wouldnt I... *grins*

The Mini is pretty good and pogre has given great advice.

I got last year for Christmas the Dremel Stylus. It is cordless, rechargable and has a pistol grip. I've owned quite a few different dremel sets over the years and for minis work I love the control I get with the Stylus. Doesnt stop me from drilling into a finger now and then but then again I probably shouldnt be handling tools... *grins*

The Stylus came with quite an impressive array of atachments but doesnt really have the smaller drillbits that are better suited for miniatures. I would recommend getting a small pin-vice drillbit set as well. Not all of the tiniest bits will work but the larger sizes fit just fine and anything smaller you want to be doing by hand anyway.

I miss you guys!

I miss you, too! COME BACK TO US!!! ;)

Before I asked for any advice, my inclination was to go wtih the Dremel Stylus... really, I probably need to get off my lazy bum and go to the store to look at these things, huh? Maybe I'll even find someone that knows what they're talking about to help me!!

... that's probably wishful thinking, but - hey - it's Christmas! Anything can happen!
