D&D 5E Bedtime Stories

Guyanthalas

First Post
Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but it was too good to keep to myself. My buddy (@Krelraz) sent me a text tonight about his 4 year old daughter, Aurian:

Krelraz said:
Aurian wanted her bedtime story to be from the book with the "lotsa eyes" (monster manual). So I read her the Displacer Beast entry. She got scared so I had to tell her about Blink Dogs.

Needless to say, this girl is probably socially doomed. ;) I thought it was epic level cute though.

My youngest woke me up early on a Saturday (<7am) to play. I told her that she can wake me if there was a problem but let me sleep otherwise. Her response was "how about a zombie apocalypse?" I agreed that a zombie apocalypse fell under the category "problem" and she could wake me.

Another story, this related by a friend this past weekend about her daughter when they came over for a playdate. BTW, the girl showed up to the playdate in full Darth Vader outfit, with mask and lightsaber, and pink fuzzy shoes. Her mom repeated a conversation they had had the previous day:

"Mommy, I'm worried that people might thing I'm a geek."
"But dear, you ARE a geek."

(And to break the mold further, the girl is very outgoing, has lots of friends, and is a trendsetter among her class.)

Sorry to all about the "social doomed" comment. It was meant in a very light hearted tone. I've often been referred to as the "D&D Paladin" among my friends for my constantly bringing up how much I love the game, and I joke constantly about its negative social rep.

Thanks for your comments and stories though! When I get back from vacation I'm going to point my friend to this thread, and hope he gets as many laughs as I did (don't think he's an ENworld user). Much love from this geek to all the rest!
