D&D 5E Basic DnD: Classes?

First Post
I was wondering, and I was hoping y'all could help: We know the Basic Game is coming out soon, but I forget - does the Basic Game only cover the Big Four (Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Wizard), or does it cover the most iconic version of all the classes we know we'll be seeing in the PHB?

It will cover only the Four base classes: Fighter, Cleric, wizard Rogue. also only the four base Races: Human, dwarf, Elf, halfling.

Only the Core Four (Fighter, Cleric, Wizard, Rogue) with one subclass each (Warrior, Life Cleric, ???).

The PHB will have more options, as well as Barbarian, Bard, Druid, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Sorcerer & Warlock.

I'd bet on Thief Rogue and Evoker Wizard.

I'm kind of iffy on how much longevity you'll actually get out of Basic with just four classes. If each class had two builds subclasses (Like, Warrior and Battlemaster, Thief and Scoundrel, Life Cleric and Warpriest, Arcanist and Mage) then there's a bit more variety.

But of course less incentive to actually pick up the rulebooks, so I get why.

I dunno, I got a heck of a lot of mileage (more than 1E, 2E, 3E, 4E, and every other game I have played combined) out of just 7 classes/races and 14 levels ~ the red and blue boxes of BECMI ;)

4 classes x 4 races x (at least) 4 backgrounds = 64 possible characters.

Add to that the possibility of different approaches to the classes (as evidenced by the two, very different Fighters), and you get a lot of mileage out of Basic. A 4-player group could play 16 campaigns without repeating a character. That clocks around 10 years of play.
