Basic Continual Flame Question

First Post
Can Continual Flame light anything else on fire (since it doesn't give off any heat)?

Does it go out from lack of oxygen since it doesn't use up any fuel and oxygen is part of the fuel)? { Does it still work underwater? }

Is there anyother reason you couldn't keep a Continual Flame candle (or torch) in your belt pouch (or backpack)?

The way I've always played it the answers would be:

1) No, it can't be used to light anything.
2) No, it never goes out. It's permanent.
3) Yes, it can be used underwater.
4) Yes, you can have a continual flame anything and keep it safely in your backpack. Rocks are common, candles as well.

No, it's not real fire, and doesn't light other things on fire.

It lasts forever, and so won't go out without oxygen, and doesn't consume it. {And yes, it will stay on underwater.}

You can, without any problems. Of course, it's not going to 'dim', so your belt pouch or backpack may look like you've stuffed an angry glow-worm inside it or something. But you don't have to worry about it going out, or lighting your backpack on fire.

I'm not really sure why they decided to change it from Continual Light to Continual Flame; it seems to me that it just makes things less clear. The only difference is that it looks like fire - it's really not. You still just have a glowing rock (or stick, or whatever).

Just thought id add...

My Pelorian Paladin had this cast on the golden holy symbol on his helm (it cost a fair bit, but was definately worth it). Dureing the course of his life he had it cast on most of his weapons, the Continual flame arrows were particularly useful.

I should also note, a Paladin wreathed in flame bearing down with a double ended flameing sword bellowing righteous rhetoric, tends to direct the bad guys atention away from the more squashy members of the party. I even used myself as a signal flare...
