where can i find rules for the old school bag of beans? you know...you plant a bean and it has one of 100 different effects?

The small list can be found in the first edition (and maybe second) DMG. THe big list was in Dragon 171, and reprinted in Volume 1 of the Encylopedia Magica

where can i find these? is there a list of the bag of beans anywhere online for free?

Not that I know of. There is a collection of Dragon Magaizines on CD you can buy. You get a lot of info, so you''ll get your money's worth and then some. You might be able to find the magazinge or the book in a used bin somewhere or at an on line bookstore. You'll have to hunt for it though.
