I'm upgrading my desktop computer, which I primarily use for gaming. I don't want to go overboard, but I do want to make the upgrade worth my time and energy, as well as worth my money.
Currently, the system runs with:
CPU - Intel Celeron 2.0 Ghz
Motherboard - Manufacturer unknown
Graphics - ATI Radeon 9100.
RAM - 1 GB PC2700.
I'd like to get:
CPU - Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz (Socket 775)
Motherboard - Asus P5P800
Graphics - ATI Radeon 9600 XT (although I considered a Radeon 9800 SE, as well)
RAM - 1 GB PC2700.
However, as I was surfing around pricewatch.com, I noticed several decent looking motherboards by Asrock (a subsidiary of asus) that seemed to have the same features, but were around half the price of the p5p800 - does anyone have any experience with asrock motherboards? Are they a good deal? I'm rebuilding a gaming PC, but I'm not much for overclocking (if that makes a difference).
Advice on other components will be happily accepted, as well.
EDIT: Huh - kind of a silly thing for my 2500th post.
