Art submissions?

Hey, all:

Has anyone here had any luck submitting artwork to some game publishers to get some work? Which are some good ones to work for? I'm a cartoonist looking to score some freelance work, and I've always wanted to work in games, but I'm totally unfamiliar with the current gaming climate.

Hey, Indigo! You got a lot of talent there, man! I loved the comic strip!

You mean you never sent stuff to companies? Let me tell you, man, do it! Some time ago I decided to follow this wacky dream of working with RPG and art and I decided to send stuff out.

I never thought it would be like it is. But I'm currently working with a lot of companies out there, some of them among the best: Green Ronin, Mongoose, Mystic Eye, Pinnacle and many others. I thank all the great people at these companies for the opportunity and the support (and for keeping working with me! ). It's definitely been a blast!

The same thing happened to Claudio Pozas (I still remember when we were kids cooking up our home-made Role-Playing Games) and look what he achieved.

If I can only point some things to you, try a more realistic approach to your work. Cartoon does not work very often.

Same story here, mostly. I've done some (unused) work for Mongoose (not that I'd mind doing more for them -- hinthint -- hehe), and I'm doing work for Dark Quest and Second World Sims right now. It's gone pretty well so far, and the work is a blast.
Look at the company's web pages, most of them have Submission Guidelines (although really, I just looked for the most appropriate e-mail address, and sent off a quick "Hi, please take a look at my webpage gallery" message. If they like the work, they'll respond. Darn good people.
