Are there any Classes dealing with Eldritch horrors?

Yeah I had no clue what to title this heh.

Basically I'm looking to create a character for my groups next venture who was a seer that delved far too deeply into the unknown, and has been both gifted and twisted by the forces of the far planes (sort of "I stared at Cthulu for too long and now it's all i can" see sorta deal). I'm not actually sure anything in printed material is useful but then again there's a TON of that and most of the community will likely know better then me!

I know about something called an Alienist or similar that might be right up that ally but at the same time I'm not sure, for what I'd like the character to be able to do is either be a caster or fighter type (both is fine too) with heavy emphasis on the flavor and style of the abilities or actually gain new abilities which fit the idea of being made into a tool for a dark elder god.

Cleric jumps out at me for that idea but at the same time i find the cleric too 'bland' for the thought, enough crunch I'll say but not the meaty bits I'm trying to get if that makes any sense?

Lv cap isn't set right now but it's most likely going to be 18th level so late level builds are possible, though for now just some ideas on concept, class, race, and similar would be immensely helpful!!

Anything listed in #.5 material, dragon, or similar is game so far.

I haven't looked at the class in some time, but the Binder from Tome of Magic might have some of the flavour you're looking for.

It'd also be fairly easy to reflavour a Warlock as having that kind of origin rather than a demonic patron.

Yes, the archivist from Heroes of Horror is a pretty explicit fit. A divine caster with a spellbook and some special abilities related to knowledge of monsters.

Another that might fit the bill with some reflavoring is the master Transmogrifist (CA), which gets shapeshifting abilities weird enough that you could add some flavor that you're channeling shoggoths or something.

There aren't any classes, but Elder Evils has a number of feats that play into the "tool of a dark elder god" concept. Lords of Madness is another interesting source, with several feats and prestige classes that fit the concept.

The Witch from Pathfinder picks a mysterious patron and could fit the bill well with minimal conversion. There's even a "dimensional occultist" archetype.

Other helpful resources might be the Planar Handbook (Doomlord prestige class and planar substitution levels for the core classes), BoVD, and Fiendish Codex I.

The book Lords of Madness sort of covers dealing with (in all variations of that phrase) eldritch horrors. OK so it really deals with aberrations (beholders, mind flayers, aboleths, grell, and others). It has a bunch of feats, prestige classes, et al.

Here are the prestige classes that come to mind.

Alientist, Acolyte of the Skin (with slight reflavouring), Green Star Adept, and maybe Master Transmogrifist (Complete Arcane)
Flayerspawn psychic (Complete Psionic)
Entropomancer and Blighter (with slight reflavouring) (Complete Divine)
Most of the prestige classes from Heroes of Horror with slight reflavouring
Chaotician (with slight reflavouring)(Planar Handbook)

Some of the alternate base classes could be reflavoured -- Warlock, pretty much any of the alternate magic systems in Tome of Magic.

I'd also like to recommend Alienist from CArc.

Demonbinder from DotU could also work with some slight changes.

Warlock could also work. How you gain your powers is really up to you and the DM.
