Are brilliant energy weapons affected by DR?

Obviously they can never be cold iron or adamantine, but since they are "energy" weapons does that mean they bypass DR like other forms of energy such as fire, electricity, etc?

NAFAIK. Besides, a brilliant energy longsword still deals 1d8 points of slashing damage, not 1d8 points of energy damage.

Well, it'll go through DR X/magic just fine.

But aside from that kreynolds is correct. A brilliant energy sword still does physical damage, not energy damage, so it does not ignore DR.

No, it doesn't make sense to have both abilities at the same time.

Creating a brilliant energy weapon causes the "significant portion" to be replaced by light, no matter what it was made of originally. If you take an adamantine sword and add the brilliant energy power, you end up with a lightsaber that has a very tough handle.

I would say that it would bypass any DR that is coming from the armor, such as the 2/- from a Adamantine Brestplate, or Dwarven Plate (3/-)... or from the Invulnerability enhancement.
