Arcane Lock and door hit points

Does Arcane Lock at all affect the ability to beat a door down by overcoming its hardness and wearing away it's hit points?

The spell description clearly says that the DC to break the door down straight away but doesn't mention increasing the hardness or HP of the doors itself.

An arcane lock spell cast upon a door, chest, or portal magically locks it. The character can freely pass the character's own lock without affecting it; otherwise, a door or object secured with arcane lock can be opened only by breaking in or by a successful dispel magic or knock spell. Add +10 to the normal DC to break open a door or portal affected by this spell. Note that a knock spell does not remove an arcane lock. It only suppresses it for 10 minutes.

Doors don't last long against a mid-level fighter with power
attack (especially with the new +2 if the fighter is using a two-handed weapon) so the utility of the spell seems questionable otherwise, as it only takes two rounds or so to break through a two-inch thick iron door.

Hmm. Magically enhancement raises the hardness of the door by 10 points IIRC (speaking about magical wallpaper).

I'd treat Arcane Lock similarly. Or, simply rule that they can either break it or not. No scritchy scratchy at the door, booting is what real men do.

NAFAIK, but then again, I don't know why anyone would put Arcane Lock on a plain wooden door in the first place.

Don't forget your adamantine greatsword...

It was a bronze door... Hardness 9 hit points 50... A two inch thick iron door itself is hardness 10, hp 50...

With power attack and two attacks a round with a two handed weapon, it really doesn't take that long to destroy the door.

To me it really seems like a problem... Iron doors should last more than 12 to 18 seconds.

A two inch iron door has 60 hit points, not 50.

That depends on what type of weapon is being used...and if you say an axe, I'll cry. ;)

Depends on the character and the weapon.
