Anyone know what "apok" means?

It's driving me nuts--can't find it in any dictionary or encyclopedia, etc.

I've seen it used as a handle in various places, one of the Matrix characters was named Apok IIRC, and there was a Rifts RPG class called the Apok.

A little worm in the back of my brain makes me think it is biblical, but I can't remember.

Could be Epoch pronounced oddly.

An Epoch is an age. As in the Age of Steel.
