Anyone know how I can merge PDF files for free?

Does anyone know of a good, reliable software that allows me to merge PDF files for free? I know I can do it through Adobe for a rental price per month, but I assume there are some 3rd party softwares out there where I might be able to do this sort of thing for free. So if you know of any good, reliable ones, please, let me know.

DocHub from the Google Chrome Store is awesome, its online, has an Append/Merge function on its dropdown menu, integrates with GoogleDrive, Gmail and Dropbox and then allows you to rotate and rearrange pages too.
Its available free plus of course it has a upgraded version for a $5 subscription

I like ones that have been tested by people who can give feedback. A Google search may not yield optimal results.
