Any such thing as a US Civil War based RPG?

I've been reading Shelby Foote's books on the US Civil War recently and I think I'm turning into a Civil War buff. Some interesting role playing campaigns could be based within that conflict. Has anyone ever come out with a PnP RPG based on the Civil War? Or a sourcebook for roleplaying in that period?

Ravenloft: Masque of the Red Death is set in the 1890's so it's rules can be used fairly easily for the period.

Here's a plot hook to go with it. The Battle of Chicamauga was fought on an Indian burial ground. It is held by some to be the most haunted of all the Civil War battlegrounds

I assume you mean non-magical? Otherwise Deadlands may be right up your alley, it's set partly during and *immediately* after the war during the Old West time period.

I'm reading Shelby Foote's Civil War books right now, too; they're excellent. I haven't really thought about a Civil War RPG, but I'm eyeing the board games, Battle Cry (which uses Richard Borg's Command & Colors system, like Memoir '44, BattleLore, et cetera) and the Great Campaigns of the Civil War series.

(Actually, I'm leaning towards the latter, because I already own both Memoir '44 and BatteLore; I like the Command & Colors system, but I don't know if I really need another Command & Colors game.)

Boot Hill (1975 edition is the one I am familiar with) is typically post-civil war western style, but you could probably adapt the weaponry to fit civil war weapons.

I'd go GURPS for this.

Also, GURPS Alternate Earths has a great civil war setting called Dixie:

Dixie posits an alternate history where the Southern filibuster William Walker, as president of Nicaragua, chose to protect Cornelius Vanderbilt's Accessory Transit Company rather than turn on his tycoon supporter. Without Vanderbilt's opposition to his regime in this timeline, Walker was able to conquer Cuba and make his Nicaragua the most powerful nation in Latin America. During the American Civil War, Walker's ships ran the Union blockade and ensured that Southern troops were well-supplied, leading to their victory over Northern forces and the independence of the Confederate States of America.

The "current year" in Dixie is 1985, with the world dominated by the U.S.A., C.S.A., the German Second Empire, the Russian Soviet Republic, and the United Republic of India.

There are a couple educational RPGs set in this time period. I don't know how real-life you want to go but these are intended to teach children about the war interactively so they are very realistic with no fantasy aspects add. I don't know their names off the top of my head - sorry.

Sidewinder Recoiled. Old west D20 RPG. Has soldier prcs.

I vaguely remember one that came out about 1983 and promptly died on the vine, mainly because (like a similar one linked to WWII at the time) you were actually still part of a unit in the war -- kinda limiting for most rpg-ers, if accurate.
