Adding a ribbon bookmark...

So IMHO, one of the coolest things about the leatherbound premium rulebooks is the ribbon... It's perfect for sticking in the Grapple section, or Kobolds, or the Experience chart, or whatever you might need to look up...

Not sure it's worth the full price of admission, though. Anyone ever tried adding "aftermarket" ribbons? I'm thinking maybe some heavy duty tape on the inside cover would do it, but I don't know how sturdy that would be.

Why not put in the spine? There is a gap, albeit small.

How would you secure it? Is there maybe some kind of runny glue that could make it down there in that tiny space?

apply some Gorilla Glue with a Q-tip and lock it down for 4 hours. This stuff can be bought at any good hardware store or even amazon. be sure to WEAR GLOVES. i was binding some books from printed pdfs last month with the stuff and i got some on my hands. it took two weeks for my skin to recover. worse than crazy glue in that regard. the books turned out beautifully, though. i made my own book press from scrap wood. also, keep in mind that Gorilla Glue will expand a bit, so make sure to press down on the spine and clean any that may come growing out with a Q-tip within the first half hour.

also, you could use tweezers to put it in place.

Go visit a lutheran church and ask to see one of their green hymnals. (Many other churches do the same thing that I'm about to describe)

You cut a small piece of durable tagboard that is thin enough to stick down the spine (or along a cover) an inch or so - just enough that it's tight. Before you stick the tagboard down the spine, glue (or staple if it is wide enough) several ribbons to the tagboard. When you stick the tagboard into the spine you cover the glue or staple. If you cut the tagboard so that it is wide enough to be a tight fit, the ribbons won't ever come out.
