Hey guys.
I'm currently getting interested in a conversion of the Martin books series A song of ice and fire to the riddle of steel game system. I've come up with a bit of initial ideas prior to really starting to dig in. I'm hoping for comments, helpful ideas on good additions from the world to add to the system, and since I'm not riddle expert a bit of help as to where I might be messing it up. I know about the GoO Westeros setting being published, and while I will pick it up I don't have huge faith in them convincing me d20 is right for Westeros. I think the Conan RPG is excellent by Mongoose, but even Conan is a bit more Heroic/Dark fantasy, than Westeros is Dark/Heroic...lol.
Castle forged steel = Fine Weapons
Would you guys think it would be better to represent Wargs, and those w/ the greensight as Major Gifts or as a Race Priority of possibly D or E.
Faceless Men as race priority D? As far as Animal Control maybe not all Faceless Men can do that, but rather they have a minor or major gift in Animal Empathy?
Valyrian Steel??? Hmm.. this is sorta the golden question..I'm still not certain how I'll handle this.
Wildfire?? Do we have anything similar in the riddle? Off the top of my head I'm guessing I'll need to create it.
I see the possiblity for some new gifts as well as flaws obviously.. I'll need a good way to replicate "The Mountain that Rides" hehehe..
Magic system? Don't speak such blasphemy.. Honestly I'm sure Martin has this up his volumious sleeves like some Maester but as the Magic in the world stands now I'm happy just granting PC's certain Magic Abilities through gifts.
Maester skill list.. I'm still gonna toss this one out to see if anyone wants to take a shot at it. Must say I'm not too great at really visualizing what skills fit exactly and which one's are fringe. I'm am thinking of having the Maester be a very expansive list, w/ a social class requirement in order to be able to select.. if not social class then racial priority e. Actually, after typing that out I like the idea of social class e.. let's us represent properly the people who have the maester training, but did not take their oath.
Well, that's what I've got for now.. Any input? even if it's just to argue an idea.
