If you put it around you, how do you avoid dying from standing on it?

If the sphere goes into the ground (2 half domes), then the ground would disolve round after round....

I don't think so. I believe the intention of the spell is that the effect doesn't interact with any solid surfaces. It's up to your DM what happens if you dig down to try to tunnel under it; the wall may be there, or it may not.

Alternately, if you don't like that interpretation, the spell description for prismatic wall doesn't mention that it deals damage to objects. Only creatures. It merely prevents some objects from passing through the wall.

As others have stated, you and creatures you designate are not affected.

There's nothing in the spell that indicates it would dissolve the ground. The effects specifically state "the creature..." so the ground and any other inanimate object would be unaffected by the spell.

Well, those on the inside would end up unharmed on the Ethereal or Astral plane and probably starve. They'd be blind, too, but, well....
