2d20 Heroes of Might and Magic RPG from Ubisoft and Modiphius

I know many of the older players who were kids playing computer games may have come across the Heroes of Might and Magic series. My introduction was through the third edition that is "Heroes of Might and Magic III" and "Armageddon's Blade". I am sure we have different experiences, and some played all the versions. Anyway, this will also be the first time the 2d20 games system from Modiphius used in Conan, Star Trek, Fallout and Dune will also get used in a traditional fantasy high magic game.

Immerse yourself in the legendary world of Enroth, the setting of the first three Heroes of Might and Magic games, as it comes to tabletop for the first time! Players will relive some of the most epic and memorable moments in the saga, starting with “The Restoration of Erathia”, the crusade of Queen Catherine Ironfist to restore her Kingdom and uncover a conspiracy. Due date is 2025 so still far away, so maybe subscrtibe to say notified.

I haven't played a Might & Magic came in about 30 years. I think it was Darkside of Xeen and Clouds of Xeen which combined made World of Xeen. It's safe to say that M&M wasn't on my list of things to be made into TTRPGS.

It's sort of weird that they're basing the RPG on the strategy game Heroes of Might & Magic and not on the actual CRPG series Might & Magic. I'm guessing Heroes has better name recognition or something?

it has three releases since their 2002 releases vs M&M’s one release…

As to the game, I did not see that one coming

I'm guessing its a mixture of better brand recognition and better game potential too, especially as the strategic element gives Modiphius impetus to develop base-building and mass combat rules.

iirc the CRPG had sci-fi elements too didnt it? Its been so long since I've played them, I couldnt tell you which was which, but I know I really enjoyed them

Yes, there's a Sci-fi plot in the background. In doesn't really surface for most of the game, though (at least not for part 4 and 5, which I played most). And I think the Sci-fi elements are absent from Heroes of Might and Magic.
Still I'm not exactly sure what I should expect from a HoMM TTRPG. A board game would have seemed more logical to me.

yes, you did find robots and computer terminals and stuff like that in some dungeons. More a crashed spaceship than a classic dungeon, but it’s not like D&D did not have adventures like that as well.

Haven’t seen anything like that in the Heroes line
