What are your "dumbest" TTRPG costs

Not a waste. I printed all of Mike Schleys maps using a large-format printer. Held them down with painters tape. I thought of getting a sheet of plexiglass, but even after all the money I spent on buying the digital art and printing it, I didn't want to spend the money on some cheap plexiglass.

What are your "dumbest" TTRPG costs

Man, I spent so much money on mapping software. In the early years of 5e, I made pretty good use of it, but kept chasing the new cool toys and then stopped running my homebrew campaign. Campaign Cartographer and its various fantasy bundles, Dungeonographer, Cityographer, Worldographer, some...

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

Actually, concept art for the dragon sent to the sculptor commissioned to sculpt a mini of the iconic RedBox red dragon has been leaked. And, oh boy, if you thought the warrior has created drama...

Just plain old sense of realism if you ask me.

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

Internet forums are all-you-can-eat buffets. If you keep eating meatballs, they'll keep serving your meatballs. Can y'all take this side debate to a new thread?

D&D General What Edition was it?

I did get the 4e death saves one wrong that Mearles also got wrong. The fact that 5e just lifted the rule out of 4e makes it a good trick question.

D&D General What Edition was it?

I got far more of these correct than I would expect given that I jumped from 1e to 5e. I must spend too much time on D&D discussion forums.

D&D General What Edition was it?

I would love to see Chris Perkins play this. The man is a living database of D&D lore and rules. They guy cites issues of Dragon Magazine from memory.

    The "G" in RPG

I guess the game. The rules are an important to channeling role play and creating how the game feels. Games like D&D and Warhammer Fantasy are my goldilocks zone. I like changing gears between tactical combat and open role play with light resolution mechanics. While I also really enjoy more...

D&D General Could you recommend - third party - long adventures (or adventure paths) for D&D or Pathfinder?

Another recommendation for Frog God Games setting and adventure books. Pretty bog standard fantasy, and not really as gritty as they sell some of it. Also, not really that old school unless you are running it with their Swords & Wizardry retroclone rules. Their 5e conversions can be wonky...

D&D 5E Who tried to end the OGL?

C'mon Ben! Wait a few weeks. You are going to take the wind out of the sails of the Red Box cover warrier WizKid mini outrage.

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

Naw, I much prefer my thousand-post threads on anachronistic fashion, depictions of spell effects not supporting RAW, and wizards not looking wizened, all taking place in my inconsequential little pocket of geekery. This will end up in wider cultural war drama flooding in and the inevitable...

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

Publicity. It would be such a small audience who would care or take much interest otherwise. I expect that this figure will sell much better than the Paladin in Hell figure. Even if this causes many of the older fans to not buy this figurine, I don't think it will have much impact on sales. All...

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

I don't really care what the original artist's vision or meaning is. Sure, often it is interesting to learn what the artist was thinking when creating the work. But once you put your art out there for others to see or hear, it is going to mean different things to different people. People are...

D&D General D&D Red Box: Who Is The Warrior?

Not how work-for-hire works. I an artist wants control over their creations, don't enter into work-for-hire contracts. Will limit your income opportunities, but you can pat yourself on your integrity and have some leg to stand on when ranting on how others (mis)use your art.

How is it ruined? You can still enjoy the original art and interpret it in any way you want. Easy to ignore and not buy the miniature if you don't like it.

D&D 5E D&D Beyond: No More À La Carte Purchases But US Customers Can Buy Physical Books

No. When you cancel your sub, your exisiting homebrew remains, you just can make new homebrew. But I should still print them to PDF.

D&D 5E D&D Beyond: No More À La Carte Purchases But US Customers Can Buy Physical Books

Do you keep the old campaigns out of nolstalgia? I still have the campaign my son created and ran for me and his younger brother when he was in early middle school. Can't bring myself to delete it or the homebrew monsters and items he made.
