    Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

Kirsh continues to surprise and delight. Between the whole end bit "You're grounded" "Don't be a sore loser" was gold. As was "Science", Timothy Olyphant is definitely the MVP so far. The scene with Arthur was so good. I'd forgotten, it's been a minute since Alien, how someone reacts after the...

King Kubrick: Ranking Stanley's Best Films

Ish ... but tbh, I've been more taking advantage of opportunities. Friends of mine started a Twin Peaks watch, the local indie theatre showed Mulholland Dr. and a bunch of other Lynch movies. Missed a shot at Blue Velvet, and stalled out on Twin Peaks shortly after the big reveal ... but I...

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

:hmm: Domain cards aren't taking the place of skills, they are modeling feats and spells, things that often need reminders.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I'll be honest, I also wasn't initially interested in cards. A value add, for sure, but I wasn't thinking they'd be that useful. But there's more benefits than I had thought. First, as I mentioned, passing cards around made character gen and leveling way easier. Sure, an app can do the same...

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

Also the design of the game itself. I got my box set, and having the domain cards means that my book hasn't had to be passed around the table. We've done char gen and leveled up and no one has had to put their grubby mitts on my book. The lighter rules means I have a tablet open to an encounter...

King Kubrick: Ranking Stanley's Best Films

That's okay, this thread made me realize how little of Kubrick I've seen and I should rectify that. Him and Lynch, though I've been working on the latter.

Spoilers Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season 3 Viewing (Spoilers)

Here's hoping this season was a dip and the show will recover next season. I didn't hate the episode, but I never was on the Pike/Batel ship, so the extended life montage ... not to mention another Canadian shot genre show, but Peaches and Plums is how it's done. I did enjoy both the novel use...

Friday Chat: What Mechanics Do You Steal From A Game To Use In Another?

I also tend to see Fate Aspects everywhere, lol. Experiences from Daggerheart can have a lot of that Aspect language, spend a Fear to Compel one, spending Hope to activate on ... The one though, that I'm noodling around right now is a bit more specific for this campaign. I've got three...

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

When constructing environments, include "Collateral Damage" moves, so that buildings, bystanders and onlookers can be threatened. This is a way to split the party, some might be trying to save the civilians while others take on the villains.

New Daggerheart void material. The Void 1.5

Heist Environment report ... the party steamrolled it, so I'm worried it wasn't challenging enough, but it's not like a lot of resources weren't used by the party. Several once-per-session reroll abilities were used, and the party kept it quiet and non-lethal enough to not trigger the combat...

    Spoilers Alien: Earth Spoiler Thread

My money is on the plant. We've yet to see it in action, and I'm sure it will be both novel and satisfying.

New Daggerheart void material. The Void 1.5

My only concern is that Xero might not be enough to truly challenge a party. Solos aren't exactly Solos for a regular 4ish PC sized party. But I get not using a Colossus style stat block. The Heist environment is perfect and exactly what I need for my campaign.

Tell Us About Your Pirate Campaign(s)

Hasn't happened yet, but I've wanted to run Savage Tide for awhile now. I debated running it in 4e, and have been in the planning stage of running it in 5e since the 2024 books came out

New Daggerheart void material. The Void 1.5

I'd expect more material soon. Can't post the link right now, but the Daggerheart YouTube posted adapting Travis's Blood Hunter character to Daggerheart. Apparently, the video says the content is already in the Void, so I'm guessing it'll be up shortly

Does Your Game Have Random Encounters?

Most of the time I run published adventures, so I'll use a random encounter mechanic if one is included. When I'm not doing that ... I generally plan encounters, even in the spur of the moment

Void update! Now new toys for GMs. A bunch of adversaries and four new environments. The Heist one will see immediate use in my campaign, I expect. https://www.daggerheart.com/thevoid/

    Daggerheart General Thread [+]

It'll be a process getting all the advice centralized, as Experiences are part FATE Aspect, freeform skills that DnD Next flirted with, 13th Age Backgrounds and One Unique Thing ... etc. And also Experiences need to be a little general and malleable as some campaign frames might have specific...

D&D General Why do we color-code Dragons?

It is funny that the chromatic dragons have the same colors as MTG's color pie, but are close but not quite a match for the color pie thematically. Red Dragons, as imperious and plotters are more White or Blue, and White Dragons as more primal and hunters are more Green or Red. Black Dragons...
