(IC) Against the Giants PBP Group 2

Steve Gorak

Adventurer
Gimlak hovers forward to stab the mind of the young giant and attempts to move it with his mind.

He then moves back with his body closer to the roof. He didn’t like almost being hit by the giant’s javelin.

OOC: move: fly to ar22

Action: cast mind sliver on yo2, int save 17 or 5 psychic damage and -3 to next save.
Bonus action: shove (pull) so there is an upwards component, hoping for extra damage; str save dc 16 at -3 bc of mind sliver

Move ay17 with flat body close to the roof for extra cover

The elevated position was ideal and this skirmish tactic was working well and Donnell saw no reason, yet, to draw out his shield. His only regret was not having a bow with a stronger pull. Nonetheless, the short bow allowed him to retreat quickly behind cover and crouch.

He, once again, stood up from cover, moved along the peak, and fired an arrow . He could feel the magic of the Skyfather guiding his arrow towards the giant. Once it struck true, he scrambled across the roof to another place to hide.

OOC:
Move and hide?

Attacking with advantage under the assumption that 17 beats giant's Passive Perception
Attack with Bless and damage: 2D20.HIGH(1)+5+1D4 = [9, 15]+5+[1] = 21
2D6 = [1, 3]+2 = 6
(the damage dice don't really like me much)

All the killin' had roused the spirits trapped deep within Doc, and he was seized with their passions, their memories ... and consumed with that dread feeling of fear that they all had, trapped at the moment of death. It had been a lonesome while since the Sheriff had demanded his due by collecting them, and Doc wasn't quite familiar with this sort of reckonin' risin' up on him, and lacked the spirt, or strong 'nuff spirits, to quell 'em

Caught up in the pain, he heard the sounds of battle around him as he was stumblin' round and snapped out of it, apprisin' hisself of the situation unfoldin'. He quickly took a position providing a little respite and focused the ire of his trapped spirits on an ugly ol' rustler, snapping off two quick shots. One of the uneasy souls wrestles free from Doc and screams along with the first bullet, inflicting the pain of death that Doc feels on the little doggie nearby, and liftin', just a little bit, Doc's burden.

OOC:
First, apologies to @Steve Gorak @Kobold Stew @Tonguez @FitzTheRuke ... and welcome @TaranTheWanderer !!!
I have been on a hiatus (and messaged Fitz) but I will be checking in regularly here. I actually had a draft ready to go yesterday, but y'all beat me to it and advanced the round.

The Colonel looks around, and awaits the arrival of more giants imminently. He knows they've not had reinforcements, and he knows their numbers must now be thin, especially if the blowhard outside continues to harrass the perimeter.

This is going well.

Kahru barred his teeth, a feral yelp escaping his throat as the giants big sword slashed his shoulder. He should have known the whip would be ineffective against the brute that had yanked the wolf from its feet! The chaos of battle was now about and taking a step back, Kahru pulled in the whip, wrapping it around his arm, as he reached for Waythe and drew her from her sheath.

The great sword pulsed with a fierce elation as it was once more released to the fray, the Barbarian allowed her fervour to overwhelm him, his mind merging with her sanguine drives, blood rushing hot through his veins as with reckless rage he swung a vengeful strike back at the giant, if the she-wolf was with him or not, it mattered not, only that the Storm Bear and his great sword would once more be slaying giants....

OOC: Bonus action to rage

Legend
The giant bellowed as part of his face was burned by the Colonel's searing light. This was followed up by an arrow from Donnell, that very accurately stuck in a joint in his armor. It lost most of its momentum, and didn't bite deep, but it was uncomfortable nonetheless. Then, Doc shook off his demons and moved to the edge of the roof while firing his guns. His bullets screamed as they pierced the giant's breastplate, and a ghost whipped out, clawing spectral claws at the young dire-wolf.

The wolf tugged at her chain, and the giant lost his grip. She ran from the ghost, dashing across the courtyard. Kahru drew Waythe, who hollered, "It's about time!", as the northman and the armored giant traded blows. Standing knee-to-toe with a giant took great courage, and Kahru was up to the task, but the giant's superior reach, towering height, and immense weight gave him a clear advantage; the northman was driven back against the giant's powerful blows.

Across the yard, one of the two young ogres made his way through the kitchen doors. This act was followed by a bunch of garbled yelling in the Giant tongue, which sounded more like an argument than it did like an organized response. The other young ogre was lifted off the ground and dropped on his head by Gimlak's psychokinetic assault. Rather than attempting to climb to the roof once more, the young ogre pulled himself to his feet and ran to catch up to his brother.

Gimlak had floated over the roof's thatched peak, and was out of sight, so the Ogress picked another target for her second javelin. She saw the Colonel standing over the outbuilding's door, and she flung her javelin high. It headed true for the Colonel, but he brought up his shield in time to deflect it, and it clattered to the ground in front of the door. The ogress tried to drive her dire wolf onto Kahru's back, but the wolf refused to lunge or bite.

OOC: Colonel did 11 (dc18 DEX); Donnell did 6; Doc did 37 to AHG & 6 to DW2; Kahru missed, but Waythe is happy! Giant did 18 & 20 (19) to Kahru; Gimlak did 5 psychic & 4 falling to YOg2.

These small arrows hardly had the length to peirce the Giant's thick armour but Donnell could tell they were getting through. The giant was oozing blood with every shot. Coming out from cover from a different and unexpected place, the skirmisher fired another arrow. This time, striking the giant in the eye and sending its towering form falling to the ground.

Donnell yelped in pride at his accomplishment and then darted down one rooftop and took cover behind another.

Legend
The giant raised his sword to bring it down on Kahru, but Donnell got him in the eye with an arrow. The sword dropped to the gravel of the courtyard and the giant absently clutched at the arrow in his face before collapsing to the ground. Kahru's sword called loud enough for Donnell to hear it, "Lucky shot, archer! That giant should have been mine. I shall have to find another one!"

OOC: Yes, Donnell killed the Hill Giant.

The Barbarian rose up ready to take the giants next blow only for the brute to suddenly collapse, clutching at its bleeding eye. Howling joyfully he dodged aside as it fell to the ground and quickly looked up to see the boy Donnell above, no time for praise now though, the ogress was behind him and Waythe would need to take succor in her flesh instead

OOC:
Waythe : 1D20+8+2 = [1]+8+2 = 11
2D6+1+3+2+1D6 +2+2D6 = [2, 4]+1+3+2+[3]+2+[4, 6] = 27
I think Waythe must be angry with me, I keep missing despite her doing good damage!
