PS: description currently is (taken from WD):

The gu'en-deeko is believed (falsely) by the northern tribes to be a human who has been cursed by the gods and turned into a giant ape-like creature for partaking in cannibalism. It is similar in appearance to a yeti but isa light grey in colour. Though it eats most things, its preference is for human flesh, particularly the brain. On devouring a human brain, it gains the knowledge of that person plus one hit point for each level its victim had. it also gains any spells or abilities the victim had. Skills and knowledge fade after 1 year, but not spells, though once used a spell is gone and cannot be relearned in the normal fashion. The hit points gained become permanent additions and are regained on resting etc. if the creature is wounded.

(The gu'en-deeko first appeared in the Halls of Tizun Thane mini-module by Albie Fiore that appeared in White Dwarf 18 in April 1980)

either random...or drow/duergar/yuan ti for fun :D (great idea to do this BTW!)

Okay, let's try 2d25 on Dice Roller and I get…

That's an Aarakocra and a Half-Dragon, neither of which are any use.

I'll try 1d3 for the drow/duergar/yuan-ti and 1d25 for the other brain donor.

…okay, I got a 3 (Yuan-ti Pureblood) for the 1d3.

For the 1d25 I got the following, in sequence:
18 (Lycanthrope, so rejected)
25 (the Yuan-ti Pureblood I already had!)
24 (Troglodyte, no traits of use)
19 (Merfolk, so no traits of use)
22 Sahuagin (might be a bit overpowered)
02 Bugbear (fine by me)

So, would you accept Berserker, Knight, Yuan-ti Pureblood and either Bugbear or Sahuagin for the Gu'en-Deeko murder machine?

Do you prefer Bugbear or Sahuagin for the last brain?

Let's see…

A gu'en-deeko resembles a small yeti with light grey fur, roughly the size of a bugbear. The ape-like creature is enormously strong and has deadly claws powerful enough to tear open humanoid skulls. This rare monstrosity is native to cold mountains in the far North.
Eaters of Brains. Some Northern tribes falsely believe the gu'en-deeko is a human cursed by the gods for partaking in cannibalism. Gu'en-deeko are extremely omnivorous and can survive by eating things most humanoids couldn't stomach, but their favorite food is the brain of a humanoid. If a gu'en-deeko eats a fresh brain it gains the knowledge and abilities of the dead humanoid it came from. It it eats the brain of a humanoid with a strong will or temperament, this can overwhelm the simple mind of a gu'en-deeko and cause it to adopt the personality and mannerisms of the humanoid whose brain it devoured.
Wicked Pets. While a gu'en-deeko is not intrinsically evil, they love the taste of human flesh and makes a very useful servant for an evil master. An infant gu'en-deeko can be raised as a loyal pet and fed the brains of any humanoid whose secrets its owner wishes to know. The gu'en-deeko's master should be careful when feeding it a strong-willed or antagonistic character's brain in case the gu'en-deeko copies its personality, especially if the brain donor will blame the master for their death.

That looks OK to me.

Bugbear as more common opponent and higher likelihood of being found in similar environment (unless the gu'en-deeko has a snorkel!)

Just finished dnd here

Fine by me.

So we've got Gladiator, Knight, Yuan-ti Pureblood and Bugbear for the brains.

Not sure what title to give it though. Gu'en-Deeko Slaughterer perhaps?

Feel like I've had enough of posting for the time being so whatever it's called, it won't appear here on Enworld for at least a day.

Of those alternatives I like Slayer the best.

Or we could use Gladiator, as that's the primary brain.

Or make up something new like, I don't know, Battleape. Sounds better than Battlemonkey!

Or go really old school and make if a Gu'en-Deeko Fighting Ape.
