CL 9 and DC 15 is ok by me.

You're right about the pricing. I could go for the +600 gp/HD, +3000 gp for Gargantuan, and an additional +5000 gp for Colossal. Materials costs should logically scale with the cube of the height, but then I think the costs will get too high. So I can go for 1000 gp for G and 2000 gp for C of materials costs.

Okay, so you'd be OK with the following:

An enhanced wooden guardian juggernaut is crafted from 25,000 pounds of wood treated with special paints and oils with a materials cost of 1,000 gp. An enhanced wooden juggernaut with more than 5 Hit Dice can be created, but each additional Hit Die adds 600 gp to the market price. If this increases the size of the creature the price increases by 3,000 gp for a Gargantuan juggernaut and by an additional 5,000 gp for a Colossal one. The higher price includes the cost of the extra materials required to build a larger juggernaut, the total material cost is 2,000 gp for a Gargantuan wooden juggernaut and 4,000 gp for a Colossal one.

Carving and assembling the body requires a DC 15 Craft (carpentry) or DC 15 Craft (woodcarving) check.

CL 9th; Craft Construct, animate objects, spiritual weapon, caster must be at least 9th level; Price 15,000 gp; Cost 8,000 gp + 560 XP.

Gargantuan 11 HD Juggernaut: Price 21,600 gp; Cost 11,800 gp + 784 XP.
Colossal 20 HD Juggernaut: Price 32,000 gp; Cost 18,000 gp + 1,120 XP.

I'm wondering whether we ought to add another spell prereq to the enhanced version to reflect its greater power and sophistication.

Maybe geas or righteous might?

That all looks fine, and I wouldn't mind if you wanted to add righteous might. Do these need anything else?

An enormous statue crudely carved from stone.

Stone juggernauts are simple constructs that are sometimes used to create guardian juggernauts (see the guardian juggernaut template). While weaker than a true golem they are the most powerful of the standard juggernauts, although they are clumsy and slow-moving compared to the other base models of juggernaut.

A typical stone juggernaut stands 30 feet tall and weighs about 50 tons.

COMBAT
These mindless constructs are incapable of developing tactics of their own, but fight according to whatever instructions their masters give them.

CONSTRUCTION
A stone juggernaut is sculpted from blocks of stone with a total weight of at least 75 tons. The materials cost 1,000 gp.

Carving and assembling the body requires a DC 14 Craft (sculpting) or DC 14 Craft (stonemasonry) check.

CL 11th; Craft Construct, animate objects, mass bull's strength, spiritual weapon, stone shape caster must be at least 11th level; Price 20,000 gp; Cost 10,500 gp + 760 XP.

Enhanced Stone Juggernauts
Some stone juggernauts are built with more powerful combat abilities and the capacity to wield spiritual equipment like guardian juggernauts.

Apply the following changes to the basic stone juggernaut.

Special Attacks: Stomp, sweep
Special Qualities: Spiritual equipment
Advancement: Huge (8-12 HD), Gargantuan (13-18 HD) or Colossal (19-25 HD)
Challenge Rating: 8 (7 when piloted as a guardian juggernaut)

Enhanced stone juggernauts can be built with more HD and larger sizes than standard stone juggernauts. See the Construction section for details.

COMBAT
An enhanced juggernaut normally has weapons and armor in its spiritual equipment slots and uses these and its special attacks in combat, fighting in whatever manner it is ordered to.

Spiritual Equipment (Su): See the Guardian Juggernaut template's Special Qualities for a description of this ability.

Stomp (Ex): An enhanced stone juggernaut can stomp an opponent two or more size categories smaller than itself. This is a special full-round action during which the juggernaut moves up to twice its ground speed and attempts to move into its opponent's space. If the victim fails a DC 25 Reflex save, the opponent takes 4d8+18 bludgeoning damage, following which the juggernaut may either pin or kick the opponent. If the victim succeeds at the Reflex save, the victim takes half damage, the juggernaut's movement ends next to the opponent's space, and the opponent may make an attack of opportunity against the juggernaut. The save DC is Strength-based.

If the juggernaut pins its opponent, the victim automatically takes stomp damage during the next round unless the juggernaut moves off them. If the juggernaut chooses to maintain the pin, treat it as a normal grapple attack. Pinned opponents continue to take stomp damage each round if they don’t escape.

If the juggernaut kicks the opponent, the victim travels 1d6 × 10 feet, and takes 1d6 points of damage per 10 feet traveled plus stomp damage from the kick.

Sweep (Ex): This special attack allows an enhanced stone juggernaut to sweep its arms* from side to side as a standard action. The sweep affects a half-circle with a radius of the juggernaut's reach, extending from an intersection on the edge of the juggernaut's space in any direction. Creatures within the swept area are affected if they are two or more size categories smaller than the juggernaut. A sweep automatically deals twice the juggernaut's base slam damage (or claw damage, if the juggernaut has no slam attacks) plus 1-1/2 times the juggernaut’s Strength bonus (round down). Affected creatures can attempt Reflex saves to take half damage (the save DC is Strength-based).

*An enhanced stone juggernaut with a non-standard anatomy can use other limbs, such as wings or a tail, to make a sweep attack.

CONSTRUCTION
An enhanced stone juggernaut is crafted from 75 tons of stone. The materials must be of exceptional quality and cost 2,500 gp. An enhanced stone juggernaut with more than 7 Hit Dice can be created, but each additional Hit Die adds 1,500 gp to the market price. If this increases the size of the creature the price increases by 6,000 gp for a Gargantuan juggernaut and by an additional 12,000 gp for a Colossal one. The higher price includes the cost of the extra materials required to build a larger juggernaut, the total material cost is 4,000 gp for a Gargantuan stone juggernaut and 8,000 gp for a Colossal one.

Carving and assembling the body requires a DC 16 Craft (sculpting) or DC 16 Craft (stonemasonry) check.

CL 13th; Craft Construct, animate objects, mass bull's strength, righteous might, stone shape, spiritual weapon, caster must be at least 13th level; Price 35,000 gp; Cost 18,750 gp + 1,300 XP.

Gargantuan 13 HD Juggernaut: Price 50,000 gp; Cost 27,000 gp + 1,840 XP.
Colossal 25 HD Juggernaut: Price 80,000 gp; Cost 44,000 gp + 2,880 XP.

I've realized we need to change this bit of the Guardian juggernaut:

The wood of the slots protects the original items with hardness 5, which is in addition to any hardness the original item itself may have.

I suggest.

The slots protect the original items with hardness 5 or the hardness of the base construct, whichever is higher, plus any other special defenses the golem might have (energy reduction, damage resistance, et cetera). The slot's hardness is in addition to any hardness the original item itself may have.

I'll agree to that change to the slots.

You need to replace the copied title of the new working draft with "Guardian Juggernaut, Stone."

I assume 7HD is your proposal, and that seems fine compared to the wooden version. Str should probably be increased some, though not to the level of a Huge stone golem, so maybe Str 33? I think I'd push NA higher than +8, though. I'd say at least +12 given the stone golem NA. I also think the base versions should be essentially devoid of special attacks. Your thoughts?

Done and done.

I assume 7HD is your proposal, and that seems fine compared to the wooden version.

The Hit Dice listing is what we have in the Hit Dice and Hit Points entry of the Guardian Juggernaut Template and matches the 7 HD of the original creature.

Str should probably be increased some, though not to the level of a Huge stone golem, so maybe Str 33?

The original creature does a d6 extra damage with its attacks compared to the "standard" wooden model, which means it does +3.5 more.

An exact match would be +7 Strength or Str 37, but as you say that seems too high. Which is why I increased the base damage from 1d8 to 2d6.

I'd be inclined to make it +4 Strength for Str 34 - that way the do +3 damage when wielding a two-handed weapon, which is more-or-less the same as +1d6. Its slam damage does work out an average of 4.5 higher instead of 3.5, but I feel that's close enough.

I think I'd push NA higher than +8, though. I'd say at least +12 given the stone golem NA.

I'm not in favour of that.

Firstly, the original Stone Juggernaut has the same AC as a Wooden Juggernaut. So it's already better than the original at having a one-point higher AC.

Secondly, the stats are based more on an Animated Object, whose AC is independent of material - what they're made of affects their hardness, not their natural armour.

Thirdly, they'll be having armour bonuses from spiritual equipment, so I don't want to overload on the AC stacking.

I also think the base versions should be essentially devoid of special attacks. Your thoughts?

Yes, I was assuming we were reserving those for the Enhanced model.
