Have "The outermost pair" start a new sentence, and it's grammatically correct, too! ;) Looks good. We can update with that and the tactics above.

For the background: isopterites live in nests hollowed from massive trees?, are fanatically devoted to their colonies, ???

I think it works better as a whole sentence, although I was thinking a semi-colon would be an improvement. "The insectoid's bulbous head has two black segmented eyes above a long tapering nose flanked by two pairs of antennae; the outermost pair is so thickly bulbous it resemble two strings of beads."

For the background: isopterites live in nests hollowed from massive trees?, are fanatically devoted to their colonies, ???

They also live underground if the mountain- to solar-system sized trees they prefer to live in are unavailable.

There's plenty of material in the adventure we could incorporate. It might take some time for me to rough something out...

The semi-colon is fine. It's just the comma splice that I don't like.

I can wait for the background. I simply don't have the wherewithal to write up something decent for most of these monsters since I'm pretty much just writing papers at work right now (when I'm not filling out red tape, that is).

Updating Isopterite Warrior Working Draft.

It's getting late over here so I don't fancy whipping something up today.

Okay, I'm thinking it might be easier to put the information about the Hive organisation and the various castes into an "Isopterite Hives" subentry, leaving the individual descriptions containing only the bare minimum background and information specific to the caste.

So, for our critter, we're talking something like:

Isopterites are a race of "termite men" that live in vast hives they build underground or in the trunks of giant trees (see Isopterite Hives for details). There are many castes of isopterite, one of which is the isopterite warrior described here. Isopterite warriors are the only caste that routinely engages in combat. They will resolutely fight to the death in defense of their hive.

An isopterite's every action is coordinated via telepathic signals that pass through the hive's queen. The queen does not command her subjects, but acts as a central relay for the isopterites' hive mentality. Should the queen be slain, the surviving isopterites wander purposelessly until a new queen establishes herself. Until this happens, the isopterites will only act out of self-preservation, fleeing or fighting if their life is threatened.

A warrior isopterite stands about 12 feet tall and weighs about 1,800 pounds.

Combat
An isopterite warrior attacks with its claws and acid spit. Isopterite warriors will fight to the death to defend their colony, flawlessly coordinating their tactics through the isopterite hive mind. Their preferred approach is overwhelming the enemy with flanking attacks.

I say we save the Hive and org entries until we've done the other castes. What do you think?

I was thinking of roughing something out first so we have a clearer idea for the other castes, but it doesn't make much difference really.

We might come up with something juicy while developing the Worker or Breeder castes that would cause us to change the Hive entry after all.

So shall we move on to the Worker then, or do the "Queen" caste next?
