Of course, adapting magic would be a pain, but hey...
Wound/Vitality systems are actually MORE cinematic than the standard HP system, since they add Wounds ON TOP OF the existing hit points.
What I was thinking about doing was putting together a Wound/Vitality system, but incorporating "Injuries" for people who take wound damage.
Maybe something like this: whenever a character takes 1/2 his wounds in one hit, he must make a Fortitude Check (DC-?), or else something nasty happens, like unconsciousness, bleeding, or disabled body parts.
This would be "cinematic, but with injuries."
Also, check out d20 Deadlands. There are some really cool cinematic rules for gunfighting.
