Please explain how the creation cost of a potion is equal to the market value of a potion...Would seem being an alchemist is not profitable errrr at all....I am not sure if that was changed or what not and this is the place to have things answered so thanks ahead.

The "market value" is the base price - spell level x caster level x 50 gp.

Thus, for a potion of invisibility, the base price is 2 x 3 x 50, or 300gp.

The cost of materials to create the potion is half the base price, or 150gp in this example.

The creator also expends 1/25 of the base price in XP - in this example, 12XP.

If he goes on to sell the potion for the base price, essentially he makes a profit of 150gp, in exchange for his time, effort, and 12XP.

Brew Potion is just like all the other Item Creation feats: "To brew a potion, you must spend 1/25 of this base price in XP and use up raw materials costing half this base price" (PHB, pg 80).

So, it's half the cost in gold, 1/25 the cost in XP. For Brewers, they sell for full price and get 50% to cover raw materials, 20% to cover lost XP, and 30% for labor.
