    D&D 5E 5e Updates: Monstrous Compendium

That is how I have done most of my big cats (see the OP for links); however, this was a remake of the Spotted Lion in Bigby's. The only action for the version was the "Rend" and the idea of a simple statblock intrigued me. Then I couldn't help myself and I made it complex! Almost added it at...

    D&D 5E 5e Updates: Monstrous Compendium

OK, after a many month absence I have started to loosen the grips of my grief by getting back into D&D things. I am hoping by doing things I love, like making monsters, I can heal even more. Here is my first foray back into this space: the Spotted Lion. I thought I would up my game a bit for...

    D&D 5E Encounter Balance holds back 5E

First, I apologize but I did not have time to read past this first paragraph (meeting starting in 5 minutes). Your thesis may or may not be accurate; however, one great thing I found in 5e early on (like about 8-9 years ago) was that you don't need to worry about encounter balance in 5e. Just...

D&D General Which was your favourite Forgotten Realms Cosmology?

There is one or two 4e adventure that travel to the elemental planes. In the Scales of War the PCs travel to the City of Brass in the elemental chaos/

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I am not explaining myself clearly and it is not important enough for me to try anymore. I know what I mean and want. I don't expect others to understand or have the same desires. I would rather get back to doing product D&D work. Thank you for the discussion, I am done with this thread (really...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I'm of two minds really: I like ambiguity for its flexibility and I dislike it for its lake of specificity. You can't really have both I don't think. I personally don't find adding some clarity to be a subtraction by addition, but I understand that is how you feel. The level of simplicity vs...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I am not sure if you think I am in that group or not; but that is definitely not what I have been saying. It does seem that several posters think that is what I am saying. So there is clearly a miscommunication issue.

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I agree - one I have been pushed, pulled, and dragged down by the posters in this thread! This is not a discussion I ever wanted or intended to have.

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

No worries - and it be honest it is general vibe from several people responding to me posts. Nothing specific from any one person Ok, but I never said it disturbs me did I? I have no issue with there being a difference. In fact, I would prefer game jargon that defines the nature of those...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I am not talking about the context of his world. I am talking about the contect of the viewer / reader/ player's world. I feel I have made that clear in post after post. Well color me impressed - it doesn't matter to me. This distinction was never what I wanted to discuss. I am able to see...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

Because people don't seem to like the word "magic." It is no real difference to me. The broad idea of "fantasy" is not game jargon and I am more interested in game jargon. I am even more interested in what I originally posted about: I would like there to be line in the game, after which...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I apologize if I already responded to this post - my weekend has been rough. That is possible, not issue with personally. Actually Theros has a good mechanic for with too: supernatural gifts and piety - then you could be any species! I don't think I new that bit was added.

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

Yes, and...? What isn't a bad thing? I'm not upset. From my perspective everyone is upset that I want a little more sugar my tea. Why do care - it is my tea! Really, why do you care that I would prefer a little more jargon / definition / clarity in my game rules. I mean why does it matter to...

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

In my viewpoint it is pretty clearly fantasy, perhaps sci-fantasy, but fantasy. Using science to explain the X-gene is a red herring and always has been. But it doesn't really matter. Enjoy your viewpoint and I will enjoy mine. This is supposed to fun, nothing to get to worked up over.

    D&D 5E The Magical Martial

I will repost what I wrote in another response: "No, tech has a rational, scientific, and logical explanation for what it does IRL. PS - this was in the last sentence of the text you quoted. Now there is the infamous quote that sufficiently advanced technology will appear like magic to those...
