I AM KING OF THE WORLD! Ranking James Cameron's Films

Literally one of my favorite movies of all time, but I totally get people not liking it or even can't stand it. I find the pacing and artistry of it mesmerizing.

    D&D 1E Edition Experience: Did/Do you Play 1E AD&D? How Was/Is It?

Replying to my own post because I'm a weirdo. One of the things that struck me abotut 5E early on was how much playing it felt like how I remember playing AD&D 1E felt like. I couldn't explain to you why that is. Maybe it's the complexity level, or the robustness and soundness of the system as...

Sounds like we need to get together for an Abyss watch!

    DM Tools for Mapping

    1. How important is the ability to randomly generate vs just make a map manually? I like the idea of randomly generating maps, but by the time I'm done toggling options I could have just drawn something rough, which has the added advantage of making me better at drawing maps, so it's a win-win...

    D&D 1E Edition Experience: Did/Do you Play 1E AD&D? How Was/Is It?

AD&D 1E is the edition I played the most before 5E came out. I have insanely fond memories of those days - but almost no memory of what the rules were like! Maybe there's a lesson to be learned there.

Thanks for saying this; it's why I don't poo-poo Avatar.

I AM KING OF THE WORLD! Ranking James Cameron's Films

Yeah, I had someobody point out to me a long time ago that it looked like I was avoiding drawing hair, and they were right. I was mostly drawing superheroes, and it turns out I was almost exclusively drawing characters whose costumes included full hair coverage!

I AM KING OF THE WORLD! Ranking James Cameron's Films

I'd move the Avatar movies lower, and The Abyss higher. I've seen the first Avatar movie, and maybe made the mistake of not seeing it in 3D when it came out, because I found it mostly trite and dull. Also, as pretty as it is, a lot of what I see are the clever shortcuts Cameron took in...

Rings of Power is Back [+] Appreciation

From Movie Music UK: "Returning to score Season Two is composer Bear McCreary, who in Season One wrote what I believe to be one of the greatest scores in the history of television. ...a dramatically potent, musically compelling, emotionally satisfying, intelligently structured blockbuster..."

A Sneak Peek of the 2024 D&D Dungeon Master's Guide

The PHB seems really nicely redesigned, but I don't feel the need for anothe PHB. And there are so many good Monster Manual-type resources out there that I don't need to invest in the new MM.

Favorite magic item: Folding Boat. Gave one to my group when I was running a few years back, and they found SO MANY uses for it!

Rings of Power is Back [+] Appreciation

Ismael Cruz Cordova had a powerful romantic smoulder in season 1, so I missed that this season. Very curious to see what they do with him next.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I'm not sure I agree with this, but I don't have the headspace to articulate it right now - possibly because of ADHD! That said, I would agree that neuronormativeness may be a reason for behavior, but it generally should not be considered an excuse. ;)
