Yep! If there is a reasonable chance of success, no time stress, and no meaningful effect from failure then the check should just succeed. Also PF2 encounter design relying on the PCs being at full health says to me that rolling to recover health is a unnecessary mechanic. You got it healer...

Well, risk immediate death. A couple of bad rolls and you aren't getting back up again after the first time. The second time is one unlucky roll away from the big character sheet recycler in the sky.

I think it's been said before, but brutal dying rules like this disproportionately affected new players and, in particular new GMs. It can lead to a very poor first impression.

Have you seen Hopefinder? It's a zombie apocalypse game using a stripped down version of PF2 - only LVL 1-5, no spells, classes or ancestries. Made by one of the PF2 designers. I haven't played it but it looks interesting

Very true. Gotta say that "gigantic list of class-agnostic spells" is one of my least favourite things about either PF or any D&D ed but hey that's a personal preference.

Wow this is going to make a lot of people very happy! Or hahaha it will make people happy for a moment and then they'll complain about not being able to be the best at damage AND the best at support so you know /shrug
