Some folks kept calling the game 5.5, even though the publishers at the time said it was just 5E. But they didn't care if it was "wrong" and did it anyway. Now that they aren't "wrong" anymore... I do hope they are fully prepared for a bunch of people to STILL continue to call it 5E or 5E 2024...

It takes a play perspective, which applies to both the DM and the players. If the DM has an alternate rule they are wondering about, the players are going to be the ones who will be engaging with it. So my post was to give a potential player perspective of how that rule would be engaged with...

I would imagine how useful the ability is would be dependent on the type of DM they have and whether those DMs tend to attack downed PCs? If you have a DM who usually doesn't attack downed PCs, then having those death saves available allows the PC to have a longer survival time lying...

I like a lot of 2024 MM material and use it. I also still like a lot of 2014 MM material and still use that too. I also like a lot of material from MCDM's Flee Mortals and use that when it works for what I want. I also occasionally pull out an A5E statblock from their SRD and use that too...

Are DMs really so lazy that they can't just make up their own rule at their own table for forcing Warlock players to play to their pact, and instead demands the book gives them rules for it that they can just use with no effort or thought whatsoever? I mean I already know the answer to that...
