    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

negative HPs or death saves can work either, but with mandatory -1 exhaustion. maybe both negative and death saves.

    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

yeah, death spiral can be a problem. that is why we add that when you are healed to 50% of max HP or more, those exhaustion levels go away(might try with 75% max HP to make it harsher). you can also add 1 exhaustion level while you are at 25% max HP or lower. Barbarians in rage are immune to...

    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

that is why healing is increased and must come in pair with penalties of dropping to zero. and with addition of negative HPs again, there is amount you need to "overheal" in order to get someone back on their feet. As for negative HPs, maybe Con score or half max HP, whatever is higher. This...

    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

that is why we give -1 to all AC and DCs and speed penalty. That way all aspects of the play are affected more or less the same. Except if you are a designated healer, but with penalty to speed and AC it still affects you.

D&D 5E Why I think gold should have less uses in 5e, not more.

levels. attunement and levels. That is how you prevent rich n00bs to have too much power via magic items. I.E. attunement slots equal to proficiency bonus items with attunements required some minimal level to attune. I.E. while anyone can use +1 sword, a flaming sword that adds +2d6 flaming...

    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

unless you have a party full of healers, Healing does not compete with one Scorching ray, it competes with every other thing that you can throw at the party per round, there is loads of "auto-attacks", rage, sneak attack bonuses, alchemical items and what not. Point of buffing the spell is to...

    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

agree that whack-a-mole is horrible, negative HPs might also be a good fall back position, then again, healing spells should really be more powerful, even i last playtest they were doubled in efficiency. next campaign we will try variant of healing spells: Using negative HPs, still need to...

    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

I agree that the outcome of the battle can be very satisfying in the end, I'm just worry about the journey towards the outcome. One session we had, 3.5e DM casted Cause fear on one PC, failed saving throw, DM rolled 4 on d4 on number of rounds feared. That is 4 rounds running full speed away...

D&D 5E Why I think gold should have less uses in 5e, not more.

yeah, and guess what, you can buy that with gold so again you have only 1 currency, but Residium is very "dense" in value, so it's handy for transport. one more reason for moving to 1PP=100GP=10.000SP=1.000.000CP instead of current 1PP=10GP=100SP=1.000CP.

    D&D 5E Assaying rules for 5E E6 (Revised)

I understand where the need for "stunned 5" condition comes from, but it is pure anti-fun, when some one drops to 0, you might as well tell them to go home, session is over for them. we run with modified exhaustion rules; 1 level is: -1 to all d20 rolls, -1 to AC and DC and - 5ft move speed...

D&D General The 13th Age 2nd Edition Kickstarter Has Launched

+1 to everything per level is closer to 4E. Don't like that number bloat, but it's easily ignorable.

D&D 5E How would YOU nerf the wizard? +

spells are limited resource and with that they should be reliable to a point. that is why most attack spells do something(half damage or reduced effect) even on a miss or successful saving throw. Or another take could be, that if spell does nothing on it's action or whatever time you need, that...

D&D 5E Composite Long And Shortbow Conversion?

To repeat myself from other thread, it's easier to do it with increasing base damage die depending on STR: every bow is made with STR of user in mind, you can always use weaker bow with no problem, but with penalties if you use a bow too strong for you: STR 8, d4 Piercing damage STR 10, d6...

D&D 5E How would YOU nerf the wizard? +

I really dislike rolls that spells could fail that have only beneficial effect. By that logic, we should have every fighter roll sleight of hand when drawing a sword so we check will it fall out of hand or some check when drinking potions so you do not drown yourself by accident. But, from the...

D&D 5E Composite Short And Longbow Homebrew

having used quite a few bows, I would say that 10 is really low for any kind of bow, unless we are talking about practice target bows, low would be 14. maybe just have base damage of bow being reliant on min STR of user and being cratfted with that in mind I.E. STR 8, d4 damage STR 10, d6 STR...

D&D 5E Composite Short And Longbow Homebrew

Personally, I would go with version of 3E to it. You add STR to damage in addition to dex if you have that specific bow and required Str(or more) I.E. Mighty bow(str +1), if your STR mod is +1 or higher add +1 damage, if you do not have required STR, you have disadvantage on attack and deal...

D&D 5E What I Don't Like About Subclasses, and Potential Solutions.

you can have the bar low and still be able to give give complexity to starting characters. just have an offering of 2 characters per class on how to build it at 1st level with simplest of options. I.E: cleric: abilities: STR: 15+1 DEX: 8 CON: 15 INT: 8 WIS: 15+2 CHA: 8 FEAT: resilient CON...

D&D 5E What I Don't Like About Subclasses, and Potential Solutions.

So you need a fighter: with d12 and extra attack every 4 levels and mage with d6, full casting and no extra attack. then for some combos, you might get 2 more classes with some amount of spellcasting and some amount of extra attacks. or you just multiclass fighter and mage and that is it.

D&D 5E What I Don't Like About Subclasses, and Potential Solutions.

that is because we cannot have feats to choose from, but class features, which are just in general a n00b guide to picking a series of feats so we need to have Bard, Cleric, Druid, Warlock, Sorcerer and Wizards instead of just Mage class with feat slots.
