D&D General Has Tiny Hut actually affected your game? Or has it otherwise mattered?

"Yes, but..." I've nerfed it to be what it once was, a very handy magical tent. It's a curiosity until the party had to hike across an arctic / glacier climate. Then it was indispensable in saving resources.

D&D General Faerie Blue / Orange Morality Systems

What relationship do you see between fae and elementals, if any?

D&D General Faerie Blue / Orange Morality Systems

One thing I've seen repeated is the importance of good manners and gifts. Pay them respect, and they will at least listen to you. Keeping a bottle of the village's fine beer can be a fine gift if a fae is angry at you. It might be in their nature to accept the gift reflexively, before they can...

D&D General Faerie Blue / Orange Morality Systems

I've been thinking on how to put a more interesting framework for Faerie and their kin. At the moment I only have two solid things; they must follow agreements literally and have little conception of time. Agreements are always followed as spoken, literally, but usually non-maliciously unlike...

D&D General Oh Please give me some Happy Backgrounds!!

With one of my daughters being a clown, I can tell you it varies. :)

Critical Role's Campaign 4 Opens With a Funeral and Plenty of Intrigue

There were a lot of characters to introduce. At least two characters don't really care why the rebel died, so I can see Matt and Ashley's characters splitting off to find the stone. I can see a couple of others want to resolve that before personally chasing Thajai's killer. The other 8 or so...

    RuneQuest and Glorantha ideas

As I've said elsewhere, I'm married to D&D, but RQ is part of an on again / off again throuple. That said, I haven't run a game with that system or in that world for a couple decades or so. I'm a big fan of Glorantha, although more from a mythopoetic design standpoint than anything else. It...

XKCD: Could we survive eating only humans?

So, one of my colleagues was the Cookie Mom. At the proscribed time, she came to me and asked I wanted some Girl Scout Cookies. I asked if they were made from real Girl Scouts. She replied "free range!" I bought two boxes.

D&D General Oh Please give me some Happy Backgrounds!!

Well, I can think of people who had a driving need to see what was over there. Percy Fawcett, Sir Richard Burton, Zheng He, Abubakari II. Sometimes there was a purely economic motive to place one's self in harm's way.

Spoilers What do people get wrong about Tolkien?

:D Beorn (?) served milk, bread, and honey to Bilbo and the dwarves, too, didn't he? The Nameless things in the depths of the Earth interested me too. Along with the Blue Wizards, the people of the East, and everything else that was mentioned only enough to wonder at.

D&D General I'm a Fighter, not a Lover: Why the 1e Fighter was so Awesome

Nah, you're just witnessing natural selection. Those who had their STR halved were tossed to the gelatinous cubes for a clean getaway by the rest of the party. ;) That said, there has been more than once where I have asked or been asked "I want to play a paladin, monk, fighter with high...

D&D General I'm a Fighter, not a Lover: Why the 1e Fighter was so Awesome

It's those magic pools. You either reach mortal perfection (an 18) or become horribly mutated. :)

    What's Your Price Limit?

It is fun to jaw with a creator who has made something you enjoy. I've seen it a lot in custom car culture and similar bespoke items.

    What's Your Price Limit?

If that is an option on a Kickstarter, that would have some appeal, particularly if it were to happen at a convention. Generally, the draw is the setting rather than rules, but the charisma of the author can also be a draw. Not for me personally, but I'm a tired curmudgeon.

D&D General I'm a Fighter, not a Lover: Why the 1e Fighter was so Awesome

Yes it was. Which always surprised me a bit. I never expected clerics to be a heal-bot, more of a defensive spellcaster. Where the wizard addressed situations with spells, the cleric repaired problems and allowed for foresight. Augury, remove curse, slow poison, create water, &c. I remember an...

In a fantasy world filled with magic and miraculous beings, will the religious concepts of the locals be completely different from the human of Earth?

There are also holy days and high holy days, when stories are told and miracles performed for the masses. You could even have a team-up*, where the allied temples of Lathander and Chauntea have a joint ceremony celebrating the Equinox and having pets and farm animals blessed. * Semi-random...

Thrilled to hear that another season is in production. Greatly enjoyed the first season, with only one quibble.

That doesn't change the fact that there are those who would.

In a fantasy world filled with magic and miraculous beings, will the religious concepts of the locals be completely different from the human of Earth?

No, not in the Ancient or Classical time frames as divine action, or interference, was widely believed along with subsequent actions. Faith would not be "I believe that god(s) exist and act in my life" but rather "I believe that if I act in this specific manner I follow the precepts of [god]...

D&D General I'm a Fighter, not a Lover: Why the 1e Fighter was so Awesome

Yes, I think they're called "ribbons" these days. Not that it isn't bad design... Whelm was the hammer, Wave was the trident. Fighters are the reason why the stat increasing magic items were nearly all Strength based, and to the magnitude they were.
