This is such a strange definition. Isn't the act of creating the work literally being creative? When I write a story, I come up with an idea. And then I work through various drafts to refine the idea. I'm being actively creative by... creating my story. I'm being creative by trying out...

You seem to be seeking some kind of moral absolution for using AI in your work. You're not going to get that here. If using AI makes you happy, go out and use AI. But don't expect folks to support you financially while doing so.

If you want something you like more than stock art, hire an artist to create it. You can even give them feedback to iterate on the art so it's even more to your liking. Or you could create the art yourself! Or you could use AI and choose to not sell your work on Foundry or other sites that...

In every edition I've played, I almost never buy anything other than the core rules. Everything else I like making myself, including settings, adventures, and custom species. So I'm very content!

Thanks for the recommendations, everyone! I had a lot of fun playing around on Google Sheets and turning it into a character sheet. I was able to put in custom menus so a player could select their ancestry, select skill proficiencies, equip weapon, spell foci, and shields, etc.

If your players aren't too into the nitty gritty of rules, then you could leave it up to the individual player. You could help them understand the differences between the 5.0 classes and the 5.5, and if it's a change they're interested in, they can use 5.5, but if they want to stick with what...
