It would have required a central reticle and other dots floating around it which would adjust in real time (which would probably be fiddly). The central reticle would be be where a weapon fired from your head would hit. It would also be the rangefinder. The other reticles would show where...

Yeah, that was a problem in MWO. In the early Beta test days I pitched some proposals to moderate that, to try to make convergence less feasible. But they wanted to keep it so shots went to where your reticle is pointing, so for balance they went with a system called 'ghost heat' instead, which...

    Battletech Public Playtest Thread

Well, I'm thinking about Mechwarrior Online, where one-on-one fights are quite balanced, and a big deciding factor of skill is how well you can figure out which components to aim at to most quickly degrade their ability to kill you. A friend and I designed a home mech combat system we called...

Wouldn't it be neat if there were some sort of mechanic in tabletop that could model aiming talent the way we have it in the video games? That's too big of a change, but I want it.

    WotBS Tolamaker's Burning Sky

Weird parallel to something I did. I ran a campaign set a century after WotBS, premised on the idea that the victory had been very narrow, and many people had died when trillith did some shenanigans, leaving most of Ragesia unpopulated and viewed as cursed and dangerous. But then the party was...

I like these proposed changes. And from the leaked documents I saw, I like those changes too. It seems all pretty even keeled to make the game flow a little better, have slightly fewer non-games, and require less looking stuff up that slows games down. Personally I'd also support a full rules...

How did the players feel about Macbannin's death?

    Spoilers THUNDERBOLTS* (spoilers I guess?)

It's a lot harder to get five people to hold hands and climb up an elevator shaft rather than four.

WotBS Mission to improve Mission to the Monastery of Two Winds

It's been a while, but I like what Oginme said. But you could also just be direct: the PCs could talk to them and get hints along the way from Indomitability and Madness, with Balance giving the most useful and clear information, so they know what Freedom is up to and what they'll be trying to...

Official News Monstrous Menagerie II is Now Available!

I did not specifically think of Audrey II for the design, but the artist did a cool job. This was my original write-up for an illustration pitch: [[Art: Illustration of a fey dragon. Mood: A cat playing with its food. A colossal colorful critter with a body shape readily identifiable as a...

Official News Monstrous Menagerie II is Now Available!

I wrote the vaknid, fey dragon, eclipsar, runic guardian, and penitent mantis. I would love it if someone would use one of my monsters and tell me how they turned out.

Level Up (A5E) Speed? I Am Speed. (Or: Expedition Leader Marshal is Hilarious)

They're just all shoving you at the same time, imparting more forward momentum. I saw a video about how to beat Baldur's Gate 3 with just walking. You had to use a special mix of items that built up 'Reverberation': Reverberation (Condition) - bg3.wiki Basically, one item said, 'whenever you...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

That said, I'm pretty sure the scenes where you saw Galactus approaching Earth, he was passing Jupiter and then Mars, but the side of the planet that he was passing was lit up, which really makes sense if he was going past them and heading out of the solar system. Unwatchable.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps - Official Teaser Trailer (2025)

I quite enjoyed it. It's popcorn fun, and took my mind off how the real world is dysfunctional now.

Help me brainstorm a grounded military mecha campaign set in the year 2050

    1) That could work. I am thinking about having an action sequence in Paris, ranging from the Palais Garnier opera house and Notre Dame, but those buildings have been there for centuries, so they'll probably last a few decades more. 2) I'm going to have a few high profile instances of a hacked...

Help me brainstorm a grounded military mecha campaign set in the year 2050

The way I'm envisioning it, multiple militaries field their own combat mechs, produced by arms companies the same way they have made tanks and planes and missiles. Most fill the role of escorts for tanks, and are only about 12 feet tall and like 10 tons - basically oversized infantry who can...

Help me brainstorm a grounded military mecha campaign set in the year 2050

I like the energy. Not sure about the accuracy of the geography, but I can work with this. Mechs as humanitarian relief tech that then gets militarized is a neat turn.

Help me brainstorm a grounded military mecha campaign set in the year 2050

One game that I'm hoping to draw inspiration from is Night Witches. In it, you play women from the USSR who fly night missions in WW2 - you're pilots, so you're useful, but you're women, so the military treats you as kinda expendable. And between missions you have to scrape and scheme to keep...
