D&D (2024) Table of Contents for Dungeon Masters Guide Leaked

Yeah... I've had the sense for a while now that variant rules were more or less getting the axe in this DMG. I'm a little bummed, since I use a few (plus I was hoping to see some things like critical hit variants they toyed around with in the play test). But, I still think i's going to be a much...

Running a Home Convention: Charlie Con 7

Next month will be my group's 4th "Cabin Con" where we rent either a group of cabins or a big lodge and have our own mini-con. Since the non RPGer spouses come, it's mostly board games, but it's a lot of fun. It's an updated version of something we used to do years ago, where we'd have a long...

Dungeons & Dragons May Not Come Back to Greyhawk After 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide

I know Greyhawk has it's fans, but I always found it to be pretty similar thematically with Forgotten Realms--at least compared to say Ravenloft, Dark Sun, or Eberron, which all have a distinctly different flavor. I think this makes sense as a way to put the setting out there to honor the...

D&D (2024) Poll) Will the DMG2024 have Infinite Quivers?

Years ago, either in high school or college, I had a fletcher that sold a magical quiver that was effectively endless. The trick was, every time it replenished arrows, it magically teleported new arrows from his shop at twenty times their normal price automatically deducted from the character's...

D&D (2024) The New DM Tools In The New Dungeon Master's Guide

I hear you... I made the joke even though my favorite uncle took his own life with a shotgun several years ago. I envision that the dwarf was grasping the gun by the barrel, kinda like a spear, hands literally nowhere near the trigger.

D&D (2024) The New DM Tools In The New Dungeon Master's Guide

Given the text, a really funny (and dark) picture would have had the dwarf holding the shotgun by the barrel with with the stock pointed at the troll... But one piece of goofy art aside, I think everything they actually talked about being in this chapter sounds really good. A lot of it sounds...

    D&D (2024) Rare Languages

I thought this was a real head scratcher myself. I would have left Linguist as an Origin feat and included more subclass features that granted rare languages: warlocks getting the language of their patron, clerics getting Celestial, Infernal or Abyssal, Wizard getting a couple of bonus languages...

D&D (2024) Bastions in the 2024 DMs Guide

While I am intrigued by the idea of Bastions, I wasn't a fan of the UA version (and was very disappointed there was a never a second pass). My specific mechanical issues aside, I feel the system would be tough to integrate in most of their published adventures; I'll be curious to see if they...

    Cards against Humanity sues SpaceX

Technically I'm eligible for a piece of any settlement. Given the choice between $100 (or more like $2) and an ugly cybertruck, I'll take the $2!

    D&D (2024) Predictions for the 2024 DMG?

I could live with that--it would be an improvement over the 2014 DMG--especially if they differentiate prices between major an minor items of each rarity. But given the format of items int he new PH, where every described piece of equipment has the price listed in parenthesis after the...

Status of Edge of the Empire?

I'm honesty surprised the FFG/Edge license doesn't specify that they have to put out new supplements at some regular interval. It seems clear that as soon as the license expires, a new Star Wars RPG will wind up elsewhere. I'm not sad about that--I've played this version, and while I thought the...

    D&D (2024) 2024 PHB - A much too early review

I was surprised that custom backgrounds weren't int he PH, especially since in the play test it was the default assumption and all the backgrounds were just samples. But given how friendly to new players this PH is, I probably should have expected custom backgrounds would wind up in the DMG. It...

WotC How much does Hasbro / WotC impact your feelings towards D&D?

If I had to base my purchasing decisions--much less my feelings about any given product--around any corporation, at best I'd be living in the woods scavenging for food and shelter... at worst, I'd be dead, because I'm on medication!

D&D (2024) Forgotten Realms Player Guide

I completely agree! I get why they cut the cultural stuff from the PH--a drow or a halfling from the Realms couldn't be more different from their Eberron counterparts--and it makes perfect sense to reintroduce things like names, customs, and religion into the setting books.

D&D (2024) Forgotten Realms Player Guide

I'm very impressed with the structure of the new Players Handbook (most of the rules in chapter 1, then character creation, classes, etc., and the rules glossary at the back), and I'm eager to see what the DMG looks like, particularly the lore glossary. I wonder if this design philosophy will...

D&D (2024) Forgotten Realms Player Guide

While the Realms isn’t my favorite setting (bring on the Eberron!), I’m pretty interested to see how these books turn out. I like the two book approach, and I think giving a handful of areas a more in depth treatment is probably better than just glossing over the entire continent. I wonder...

Project Sigil All the Deets on Project Sigil the D&D 3D Virtual Tabletop

So far it looks pretty great. I don’t hate the module approach, but I’m still curious if the adventures will be available for purchase at some point—like could I get Curse of Strahd, with all the maps (and essentially a Barovia tile set to use as I wish) with every monster from the adventure?

    Request: Sub-Forum for WOTC/Hasbro Post

I certainly agree that the mood around here has turned pretty negative--I know I'm a lot less inclined to engage these days--but I honestly don't know that there's any realistic way to change things. Gaming, like just about every other aspect of modern life, has become extremely polarized and...

D&D (2024) Motley Fool Prediction: New Dungeons & Dragons Edition Won't Help Hasbro Much

I'm about as far from a stock market expert as it gets--I put a chunk of my paycheck in my 401k, check in on it a few times a year, and otherwise forget about it--but I think sites like these are for people looking to invest some money to make a big profit quickly... who aren't savvy enough to...

D&D (2024) Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth? - Languages in 2024

I'd noticed this glaring omission too. The most obvious solutions would have been to remove the +1 to Intelligence and make Linguist an Origin feat. Or just keep Backgrounds with a language, just let it be one of choice. Personally, I would have gone with adding free languages to a few more...
