Yes and no. The '70s style scalloped potatoes have a white sauce made from chicken stock, white flour, and a negligible amount of garlic. No cheese in sight. I tend to use canned potatoes if I'm making curry from a bottled sauce.

I must disagree with you there. Scalloped Potatoes are bad and just a waste of good carbs.
