Glad you liked it. What I was going for when I came up with the Ratio system was a mechanic that had perfect probabilities. The way I see it, if something rated 3 was going up against something rated 1, that is a 3:1 ratio, so the 3 should win exactly three times more than the 1. I don't know...

Don't look at it as a straightjacket for PCs. Look at it as a roleplaying aid for NPCs.
