D&D General Wild Magic, Yea or Nay?

It's fun but I wouldn't want multiple wild magic sorcerers at a single table. Half the time the effects are cool or add something to the encounter, The other half... oh, you summoned a 10' square swarm of butterflies.... next!

D&D General Which Campaign or Adventure Would You Adapt To Prestige Television?

Out of curiosity, why does it having a novel disqualify it?

D&D General Which Campaign or Adventure Would You Adapt To Prestige Television?

Shackled City. I've run that campaign so many times and it has been popular with players every time. Perfect mix of urban, wilderness and dungeon, coupled with politics both mortal and planar. 100%

D&D General Mapping: How Do You Do It?

We use wipe-clean battle maps. If it's a small dungeon or a house, I try to make sure it fits on a single such map sheet. Otherwise I describe the twists and turns, and only draw out a specific room or corridor section if the players ask for it, or combat is about to occur.

    Are You A GM?

I'm the DM/GM about 75% of the time. I enjoying playing but I get a better experience from the GM side of the screen.

D&D 5E (2024) GMs: How long should it usually take to go from level 1 to 4?

Yes, it can be interpreted that way but it's still not a bad thing. Player's can have agency but the DM can't? I've been using Milestone XP for nearly 20 years and myself and the people I play with, find it works much better, more organic, than tracking XP. Different groups will obviously vary.

D&D 5E (2024) GMs: How long should it usually take to go from level 1 to 4?

I've never told players when the milestone is and it can shift depending on what they do. Milestones generally aren't fixed like that. Like everything in the game, they are a guide.

D&D General Highest level PC you've achieved.

20th and that sort of campaign took about 18 months, of weekly sessions of 4 hours.

D&D 5E (2024) GMs: How long should it usually take to go from level 1 to 4?

I voted Milestone because that is what I prefer. However, I like a level to be roughly 3-4 sessions if I had to choose otherwise.

D&D General XP: How Do You Like To Earn It?

As a player and a DM, I prefer Milestone. Just let players level up at the right point, just don't drag it out too long.

    D&D 5E (2024) Let's Write A High Level Adventure

When I'm writing a higher level scenario I tend to have a concept and then other than any specific "dungeons" I just write scenes, or detail locations. Let the players use their spells and abilities to determine the path. Maybe consider that as a concept.
