D&D General What do you do for housing?

Generally my players don't bother. They are on the road too much or they prefer to take over rooms at the inn. In my Sunday night Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign, they started off staying at the local inn before they built bastions. Now that the campaign is moving away from Saltmarsh for a while I...

D&D General So… psionic powers are no longer purely mental?

2nd edition had my favourite psionic system but even that had balance issues. Dark Sun handled it well but I think that's simply because it was built into the setting. I'd like psionics to use a power point system and have different "spells" to the standard classes where possible.

D&D General The Revised Monster Manual was released 1 year ago today! How have you liked facing down and using the new monsters?

The only thing I really dislike is that Dragons, Demons, Devils, Giants...etc, are not lumped alphabetically under that heading. The other week I ran a fight with Hill Giants and Stone Giants, and it was just frustrating to keep swapping back and forth. Had they all been under Giant it would...

    D&D 5E (2024) Essential Fighter’s Handbook [Complete Fighter's Field Guide]

Yes please! I'd buy one for each class. I've been wanting a decent book series like this. For myself I'm looking for subclasses, feats and the equipment/weapons and armour, and magical items more than anything else. Definately count me in.

What's the hardest attribute to effectively role-play?

It's a game first and foremost. Anything you add to that which enhances your role-playing, comes from you. Not everyone does that. I've never known anyone personally who goes that hard on what stats represent to that level. It's not wrong. It's just different play styles.

What's the hardest attribute to effectively role-play?

I'm with Hriston here. To me, the numbers are just a game mechanic to determine the outcome of an action that requires a roll. The player of a wizard with 18 INT doesn't need a diploma in nuclear physics. Equally the player of a fighter with 8 INT doesn't need to play them dumb. It's just a game...

Homebrew Do people in your game world put cheese on their apple pies??

I'm weird (apparently) because I love peanut butter and sweetcorn sandwiches. I love cheese but there is no way in the Nine Hells I'd put cheese and apple together

D&D General What Does Your Cosmology Look Like?

My homebrew setting uses the standard cosmology and I've used that for most settings I have run. However in the past I did try to do away with most of the outer planes because they somewhat superfluous at times. I left the elemental and odd ones like Shadowfell and Feywild alone, and just...

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

Barely anything if I'm honest. Everyone that I have run has been playable straight out of the pages. If I may ask, what are the specific elements you feel aren't ready for the table play?

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

My experience is almost the complete opposite. Full fledged out campaigns from the likes of 2nd editions Night Below through to Pathfinder 1st ed's adventure paths are nothing short of excellent. Plot holes I can give. Some certainly do but I find they are often more a case of "who thought of...

D&D General AI Art for D&D: Experiments

I've found that if I want to generate an actual D&D monster, I have to say specifically that it is from Dungeons & Dragons. Then it tends to get it more right.

D&D General Gods, huh, what are they good for?

Thanks. In general, mortals don't know as the common folk don't travel the Planes or otherwise interact, and gods don't create avatars. They tend to think that gods have always existed. Powerful Outsiders, like demon princes and archangels, are aware as they are much closer to those divinities...

D&D General Gods, huh, what are they good for?

In my homebrew setting, gods are simply aspects. They aren't like the deities of the Forgotten Realms or GreyHawk, who scheme, plot, create avatars and interfere in the mortal world. They are simply the creation of mortal and immortal beliefs. This is how gods are described in my setting...

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

I never said generic plot. My issue with many campaigns/adventure path that I see, are that they often built into a specific setting hardwired into the campaign. ENW's own (but very good) War of the Burning Sky is a great example. You can strip it but as is, it is based around the specific...
