Game Informer has revealed the cover to the 2024 Player’s Handbook.

Game Informer has revealed the cover to the 2024 Player’s Handbook.

The cover features a gold dragon behind the old-school D&D characters Strongheart the paladin, Mercion the cleric, Elkhorn the dwarf fighter, and Molliver the thief. Ringlerun the wizard is absent (then again he got his showcase on one of the 1E AD&D Player's Handbooks), but a drow mage appears to have joined the party!

There's a "blur brush tool" and a "blur filter" in just about every paint program like Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint, that's not a sign of generative AI. At least right now, looking for signs of brush strokes is one of the ways of determining if something is done by a human.

I am surprised it took this long for the "AI" intimations to start coming.
Nah, I wasn't implying that this art is AI-generated. I mean, the article even shows the art process for several of these pieces. I was just remembering that the initial art of those mega-dinosaurs in Bigby's were "AI-enhanced" by the artist. I suppose I should have left that part out, because even the non-'AI enhanced' replacement art still makes the dinos look pretty goofy.

I read the full Gameinformer feature in the magazine. They seemed to confirm Aasimar for the PHB.

"The classic options, like humans and elves...are joined by new included options, like the planetouched Aasimar, hulking Goliath, and mighty orcs." (Pg. 14)

So Goliaths are just in this because of critical role, right?

Finally Aasimar made it to the big leagues were they belong. Love lifts Aasimar up where they belong.

Anyways given it says LIKE..., not just new races Aasimar, Goliaths, and Orcs, it makes me wonder if those were just an example. Would love it if Genasi made it too, and I think BG3 fans would ike the Gith were in it, but even if its just Aasimar, I am greatly pleased to see Aasimar FINALLY getting the respect they are due as a major D&D race in multiple D&D settings both official and 3rd party and video games/novels etc....
