There's something about the name "Patreon" that just makes me feel a little queasy when I see or hear it.
I have a remedy for that. Worst case, it'll make you forget.

I first read that as Patron, which would make a lot more sense.

Too often, Kickstarter is used as a method to fund a business rather than, you know, kick starting a business.
At this point, KS for RPGs is essentially pre-orders and marketing rolled into one. Companies that do it well -- Pinnacle, ENPublishing -- deliver the digital products very quickly because they aren't inventing the product at the time of funding. Companies that do it poorly take forever even to get digital stuff out.

Knock issue 4, the campaign for which just went live today, will deliver both its PDF and physical 200+ page magazine in January. They apparently have everything done but pressing the button to send it to the printing press.

I wonder how they are getting it printed so quickly. I was under the impression that was an onerous process.

I often see projects that have to go back and forth with the print house for weeks or even months sometimes, working out the kinks. If they have already gone through that process before going to Kickstarter, that could explain the speed.
They must be literally crowd funding the print cost. Smart, assuming they are certain they will fully fund.
